Fur rippled over Lumi's body as her bones and muscles shifted and grew into those of a large ginger-haired liger, and since the vampire leader did nothing against her charge, she leapt with her claws outstretched. Digging the sharp claws into the leader's head, she tried to go for his throat, aiming to tear it out with her jaws. But nearly as fast as she attacked and regardless of her success, she leapt past the leader, shifting seamlessly again into her girl-ish self in a stream of red ribbon and gleaming steel to aid Zoshi. She side-lined the sword-wielding vampire, thrusting the sharpened cross into his neck. "Zoshi! We need to go!" she called to the armored woman.
The heart-faced guard tried to manipulate his spetum fast enough to catch the blade again, but there was only a weak scrape of metal on metal as one prong slid against the blade. The heart-faced guard shivered in pain, gritting his teeth to hold back a shout. He touched the blood staining his chest, slowly sinking to his knees.

Stumbling, her auburn shoulder sleek with blood, the tigress limped between the carnage, pushing her luck. Chey! She called repeatedly, desperately- surely she couldn't still be safely back in the room?

Valmar's army continued their march to the castle. The vampires progressively got faster and faster as they got nearer and nearer to the large opening. Excitement filled them as their feet were transitioned from the grassy field to the wooden planks of the bridge.
Wilburg looked at the human he killed before looking at the cowarding guard. Despite lack the ability to breathe, he took a deep breath before staring at the man. He then replied, "Of course I'm a monster," before swinging his blade at him.
Taken by surprise, the red-headed woman transformed into a liger and leaped onto the squad leader. Acting fast, he covered his throat with arm, preventing the werecat's lethal blow. The other two vampires weren't too lucky. Both were slayed by the women. Keeping his ground, the squad leader played dead.

The dark-skinned guard closed his eyes when Wilburg raised his blade. "I'll be with you soon," he mouthed, before the sword cleaved into his neck. The guard choked, tensing although he made no move to hold back the heavy flow of blood. Black slowly clouded his vision while his body became numb, and the dark-skinned guard dropped onto the red-stained stone, completely still.

"No!" Zoshi shouted to Lumi. "We can't abandon this city to them. You can run, but I am honor bound to do what I can to protect the people. I will not turn tail and run, even if I am to die here." Her vision turned to the dying guards around her before turning to face the oncoming army of vampires. She took a shaky breath, raising her shield. "Come at me you blood suckers, you dishonorable dogs! I'll show you how a real warrior does battle!"

"You won't be able to help them when you're dead! All those guards can't fight them off, and you're only human!" SHE was a werecat, and even SHE didn't think they stood a chance! "There's nothing wrong with running. Helping people later is better than not being able to help at all." Arrgg... this was going to quickly turn into a last-ditch effort. Lumi bounded beside Zoshi, roaring with a frustrated rage at the vampires, eyes narrowed and nose wrinkled as she gripped the sharpened cross.

The city walls were soon completely neutralized. Valmar's forces have punctured into Cados and begun it's wild killing spree. Pilliaging ran rampant in the streets. Any who oppose were to be slaughter and turned to food. Those who surrender would become new numbers in the undead army. Victory for Valmar was in his grasp.

"I have to try! If I run away, I won't be able to save anyone. At least if I took a few out with me then... In the name of all that is good, I will fight until my last breath. I will not let this darkness prevail!" Zoshi had little doubt that her last was going to be soon coming. She drew a shaky breath before running forward with a great battle cry, blade raised as she charged the vampiric horde.
Her blade flashed in the sunlight before it came down hacking and slashing at anything that moved in front of her. The sound of clanging metal as she caught blades on her shields was drowned out in her ears by the sound of her heavy breaths and the pounding of her heart. Then above all else, she heard a sickening crunch. Everything stopped as she looked down, to see that a blade had gone through her plate armor and into her side. Her blade was gripped tighter, and her assault renewed, adrenaline pushing her through the pain.
There was another crunch, and this time, her knees gave out s her other side was breeched. With a clatter, her sword slipped from her fingers, her shield sliding from her arm. She didn't feel the blow that knocked her onto her back, sending her helmet skittering across the ground. She was aware of nothing save the beating of her heart in her ears that began to fade away with her sight.
Then there was nothing.
Nothing but the darkness.

Lumi had shifted and leapt for a second vampire, tearing out his throat, only to hear the stomach-turning crunch. She turned her head to Zoshi, seeing blood welling up at the paladin's side. The werecat started bounding over to the other woman, before the the second blow hammered into Zoshi and the third blow knocked her to the ground. No! Nonono! Lumi shifted again to her girlish form, rushing Zoshi's attacker and driving the point of the cross into his throat.
As the chaos unfolded around them, Lumi hurried to Zoshi's side and knelt beside her, "Zoshi?!" It didn't look like the armored woman was conscious. Or was breathing. Quickly leaning over and touching Zoshi's neck, there didn't seem to be a pulse either. This couldn't be happening! She couldn't really be dead! Wrapping her arms around the paladin, Lumi dragged her out of the immediate danger, settling behind some of the drawbridge mechanisms. After the waves of vampires seemed to have passed, she pulled the other out with her as she started hurrying out of the city as quickly as possible. Even if the armored woman was really dead, the least she deserved was a respectful burial.
Too bad Lumi had never learned her father's trade. Too bad there was a perfectly good coffin left in Cados, too.

While he was suppose to be dead, the squad leader lifted his head up to see the battle. He couldn't help but admire the valor of the adversaries that he was fighting. So admired in fact that he felt sorry for the lass when she was finally downed. At least her werecat friend was able to drag her body out of the battle, an honorable death would be a better award than being turned into food or another vampire. If there was God, the vampire was quite sure her soul was in good hands.
As the conflict slid from its climax, the squad leader got back up and regrouped with the remaining squadmates. Four dead, not bad considering it was suppose to be a suicide mission. He felt bad for those he lost but it was hard to develop a strong emotion responce for four soldiers he hardly knew, other than they were hand picked by random for an insane mission.
Just as the group got ready to move out, a familiar figure approached them. Valmar, who's black armor was splattered red, came to congradulate the squad. "Good job, you were able achieve the impossible. You are all truely great heroes."
"Well, thank you," replied the leader of the group, "It's not like everyday where you get randomly selected to get shot over a wall by a catapult and somehow bypass hundreds of guards undetectively to pull down a bridge but you then you are forced to fight a werecat and a zelot palalin."
"Well Fredrick, since you did that so well, I guess I know who to ask next time we have to do that," the General replied with a devilish smile.
Just then a soldier came running towards the group. "General, I think found something that you might like."
"Well, what is it?" Valmar asked intimidively.
The soldier somewhat strudder back. "Well, it's a..it's a..."
"Just spit it out!"
"It's a coffin, sir...but it's occupied by a vampire. It's all chained up."
Valmar took a sigh as he placed the palm of his forehead. In one sense, he would like to tell the soldier to stop being a dumbass and just release open it up, but there was a part of him that wanted to be careful about the procedure. He had heard of stories about how certain vampires are punished by being imprisoned in tombs. With a lack of food, the vampire becomes so insane that he becomes a threat to himself and others (mainly others). Well, that's what he heard.
He figured he'll wait till the city is completely captured before he'll do any rash. In fact, he like to have Seriah's approval before he unleashes a new can of worms. "Fredrick, I want you and your men to secure that coffin. Make sure nobody messes with it, we know idea what the hell we are dealing with. At least consider it as a break for your actions." With that, Valmar went off into the fog of war. Fredrick, abinding to his orders, followed the soldier to the chained up coffin. At least there wasn't any catapult launching.
