Rules of the Thread:
1. Anyone can join in the battle, so long not preoccupied
2. There isn't exactly any order, so the battle can flow
3. You must give slenderman twenty dollars
Summary:
This battle is interconnected with Swan Song. Valmar's troops are about to storm the city walls. If the wall are breached, Cados will be dooooooooooom! (By a legion of spiiiiders)
Valmar observed the city walls from a distance. Today was the day that they will overthrow the kings of old, and establish the rulers of new. No longer shall the cursed race be afraid of hiding in the shadows. The only obstacle in the way of their time of glory was the city walls.
While his army has made much strive, attacking a fortress was still going to be a challenge for the general. The stone wall that surrounds the city is thick and tall. No doubt, archers and other ranged weapons can rain projectiles upon them. Not only do they have to worry about a wall to climb but a moat to swim over as well. However, the weakness of a walled off city is the fact that there is no escape routes. An oppossing army can simply cut off their routes and siege the walls. It becomes a waiting game and as soon as enough citizens suffer from hunger and sickness, you can breach the walls without much resistance.
However, like an impatient gambler playing all of his chips at once, Seriah wants to capture the prize right now. Instead of weakening the shell, he wants a hard piercing strike at the heart. Valmar needs to be precise and innovated if he was going tear through the wall, and that's what he going to do.

Zoshi threaded her fingers together before resting them on the back of her helmet with a small sigh. Another quiet day it seemed... She really hadn't meant to stay in Cados so long- staying in one pace made her antsy- yet there were rumors that /something/ was going to happen soon. Unfortunately, this something was never really quite specified, so there was nothing she could really do except bide her time and await for it to happen. Her eyes turned to the large wall she walked beside, eyes raising to look at the guard stationed atop it. They sure did seem antsy as of late. They must know what the something that was going on was... And that something was probably coming soon.
Good, she was getting bored.

(My twenty dollars!)
A blue-eyed guard fiddled with his cross necklace. It was hard to get used to the thing so soon after it was issued... "Are these really supposed to help?" he asked.
An older guard with a white sash shrugged. "Apparently. But if we just keep them on the other side of the moat, we won't have to put it to the test." Catapults loaded with boulders lined the outer wall, while the guards and archers stationed all along it took turned watching out for any sizable force headed in their direction. Small buckets of oil sat for the archers against the outer wall which was lined with lit torches. The fact that they were waiting for vampires instilled in the guards a mixture of both boredom and dread. If it was going to happen, couldn't it just happen faster? Winning or losing... at least they wouldn't have the stress slowly eating away at them while nothing was even going on.
The guard force in the city had nearly tripled over the course of time as soldiers were recalled from other forts. The guard captain himself was in the castle, going over battle and escape plans between pacing nervously.

Cados had turned really quickly into an odd place. Like it was... quietly frantic. With a lot of guards. Whatever was going on, it didn't seem good. So Lumi had sat herself out of the way of everyone, using the coffin as a seat as she faced the expanse of stone that made up the city wall. Her fingers thrummed on the hawthorne wood, no doubt aggravating the coffin monster even more than usual.
A familiar armored woman crossed her sight, and Lumi managed to crack a smile. "Hey, Zoshi!" the werecat called, waving to the other.

(*HEADDESK*)
It appeared they had arrived just in time.
Aria and Chey had managed to slip in the gates before the pandemonium had started, chaos that blindsided the Werecats, as they were not aware the Humans were at war. Disoriented, furiously lost, Aria had left early from her room in the Inn to seek out the Prince or one of his subjects- thinking she would have had an easy time with this, she had not first checked in with her leader. Now, staring up at the armored battlements, having been denied entry to the castle at this time, she was starting to become irritable.
"You," her hand snaked out and snagged one of the passing soldiers; looking bewildered, he came to an almost immediate halt. "Where is Captain Gladpath?"
He hesitated. "Uh...."
"I am Ambassador Aria Talei of the Werecat Tribe, and it is very important that I have an audience with the King or one of his officers. I really don't have time for your uncertainties, Human, so either point me in the direction of a more competent warrior or tell me what I need to know."
A faint color rose to the man's cheeks. "Captain Banez is in the castle," he said, and Aria didn't miss the subtle anger in his tone. "But none are permitted inside without orders."
"I need to speak with him," agitated, Aria released him, her copper eyes scanning the crowd. "Tell him it is of utmost importance that we talk." She was surprised to see him still standing there when she turned back; Humans were so slow (oh, the irony).
"Go!"
Frowning, she watched him disappear swiftly into the crowd, hoping Banez would get her message.

(Insert NPC side-conversation. The guards are more or less dicking around, except for the one that ran into the castle. SKIIIIP.)

"Lumi," Zoshi greeted with a nod. "Still lugging around that coffin I see." She made her way over to her. "It's a bit tense around here, don't you think?"

"It's a good friend," Lumi nodded with a smile. Could be a better friend, though.... Actual conversations were nice. Her smile melted away at Zoshi's comment, and she slowly nodded. "Yeah... really tense. The guards seem kinda' quiet, too. Weird." The werecat scooted over slightly, patting the open space next to her on the coffin for the righteous woman to sit down. "Do you think you're gonna' leave soon, before things blow up or something?"

The guard returned to the gate for Aria, opening it for her and for her only. "The captain says to let you in, but we have a, uh.. situation in the castle."

(Thank you Keith for typing this for me)
Valmar nodded to himself, gently shaking out of his own thoughts. No more time to waste. He lifted a hand to signal the troops’ preparations. Behind him, the army shuffled to and fro, preparing. Those who were to be catapulted (comical or no, he was keeping that part of the plan) had already taken their places at the catapult. One of the younger fledglings had tied a few feather pillows to his armor, but the others stuck with simple steel. They could lower the drawbridge for the rest of the attack.
Half of the army lined up behind a few catapults, some firing vampires and others for the barrage, to push them along, while the others carried torches, weapons, battering rams, and other means of siege. Valmar held his hand high, paused to let every soldier’s eyes wait for his signal, then wordlessly directed them forward.
On his cue, the wheels turned; soldiers and catapults alike rushed to the city, raising a cacophonous roar of battle cries and creaking wheels. The moment they marched within range, he called out, “FIRE!” The catapults all launched, some sending rocks towards the stone walls, and the others sending small squadrons of vampires straight over the wall. Now they just had to keep up the attack until the drawbridge came down.

The guard with the white sash looked over the wall, furrowing his brows when he saw the catapults and armored soldiers, actually climbing INTO the catapults. "...the hell?" He heard a loud whistle as the rest of the wall's sections were alerted to the oncoming force, and he turned to the blue-eyed guard, a guard with his black hair in a braid, and a guard with a feathered necklace, "Load that thing up! We can crush them where they are if we're quick about it!"
The other guards on the wall had done the same, dousing the small boulders in oil and setting them on fire before launching them towards the vampire forces. Archers and guards alike held their ground where rocks pounded the structure, archers prepared to fire when the vampires got in their range. Several guards were ordered to ensure the drawbridge, at which they hurried to get out of there to protect the mechanism.
But whatever the vampires were launching at the white-sashed guard's section, they seemed to be going OVER the wall. The white-sashed guard looked up. Were... those vampires?? The hell??!

"No way. I'm staying here until things heat up. I'm-" Zoshi was cut off however as she became aware of the sounds of rocks smashing into the wall. Then there was something flying /over/ it. What...? Why were there armored men...? Her sword was freed from her sheath, and her shield taken from her back. "It looks like we don't have much of a choice anymore. I have a feeling this isn't just a training exercise."

Lumi's nose wrinkled at the faint sweet smell coming from the paratroopers. "Far from it... they smell like vampires." Which was confusing in all sorts of ways, but the werecat focused on the situation at hand more than wondering why and how this could happen. She pulled the steel crucifix free from her sash, taking the chain of the coffin in her other hand. Damn, how was she going to move quickly? She couldn't just leave the coffin!
