(Ty Keith Again)
The oncoming barrage of flaming rocks was a little more than they had planed for. Valmar grimaced as his men retreated out of range. Some of the catapults had already reloaded and used a rock-on-rock collision to lessen the damage, but two catapults were completely crushed, and a third lost a wheel. He sighed, and motioned for the attack to go on, slowing down their advance a bit to allow the inside team time to work.
Across the wall, the launch-team wasn’t quite on the job yet, but the moment they all gathered their senses on a thankfully-empty street, it was time for business. They counted up their men; nine vampires on hand. (One man had broken his leg, so they set him in the alley with the fledgling’s pillow-armor to let his accelerated healing catch up.) Swords and axes drawn, they set down the street, taking a turn whenever it would take them closer to the wall. Despite the fact that they were probably detected by now, they kept their steps careful and measured, hoping to be just as alert for the inevitable conflict as their opponents.

"YEAH! You better run!" The braided guard shouted, even though there was no way for the vampires to hear him.
The white-sashed guard narrowed his eyes. Why were they retreating? But before he could contemplate more on it, the vampire force was returning, if at a slower rate. "Load the catapult again, but wait until they're in range," he commanded the others. The blue-eyed guard and the feathered necklaced guard went to fulfill the order.
It was hard not to notice the rocks crashing into the wall previously. The guards in the street were on edge, either watching the wall, filtering through the streets towards the drawbridge, or trying to assure the people in the city that things will be alright but please start heading in the direction of the church if you would.

"Vampires?" Zoshi echoed. She blinked a moment before her face was set in a look of determination. "Then come on! We have to drive them off!" She looked back to see Lumi dragging her coffin. "What are you doing? Leave that! It will only get in the way!" She began to run off in the direction the vampires landed, whether the other was following or not.

"But..." She couldn't just leave the coffin! But then Zoshi started running off ahead, and Lumi looked from the paladin to the coffin. Well, she had the key, and she didn't think someone would break it apart in the middle of battle, and she had to make sure Zoshi didn't die, so.... Lumi dropped the chain and hurried after the armored woman. "Wait up!"

The general observed the battle, so far the humans seem to have the advantage. The city walls were quite fortified. However, Valmar still had a few tricks up his sleeve. First, he ordered his troops to reformate into a tortoise formation. Second, he directed his remaining siege weapons to launch explosive rounds into the wall, directing firepower where the humans were suppressing fire at. Additionally, prior to the battle, he had his chemists modify the powder to make it more "smoky", hoping to give the spotters and rangers on wall a hard time to see.
The launch team continued their way to the city wall, using the allyways and any abandon building to hide their prescene from city sentries on the street. As they got closer, they found a catapult team moving up the street. Nested on the second floor of an abandoned building, the squad leader debated on whether to engage the team. Figuring they had the molotovs for the jobs and the tactical position, he ordered the team to lite up and throw their fire bombs at the unfortante crew below.

"Incoming!"
Even with the warning, the guards atop the wall didn't expect the vast rumbling and explosions from the vampire's trebuchets. "What the HELL was that?" the feathered-necklace guard barked.
An archer cautiously stepped back towards the wall, but his vision was obscured by thick grey smoke. "I can't see!" he said, trying to wave it away, only for more smoke to take its place.
"Damn it..." the white-sashed guard muttered. They couldn't aim if they couldn't see!
"What the hell?" one of the catapult's guards in the street said as the molotov clattered at his feet. Suddenly and without remorse, he was caught in the small explosion, and the other guards jumped. "Where'd that come from?!" They had heard the shots the wall was taking, but what could make it all the way to where they were??

Zoshi slowed her pace just slightly to allow the other to catch up. Her eyes swung around to try to figure out just what was going on. She skidded to a halt as she spotted guards by the drawbridge. "What's going on?" she demanded. "Why are there vampires attacking? No, ket me rephrase that. Why weren't the citizens warned that the vampires would be attacking?"

Lumi stopped a few moments after Zoshi. The paladin sounded pretty harsh, which wasn't uncalled for, but the werecat punctuated the armored woman's question with a "Please."

With the enemy blinded, Valmar ordered his troops to hastly advance at the wall. The siege engines continued batter the stone wall with its explosive ammo while archers inside the advancing formation picked off any human that was visible on the wall. Soon enough, Valmar's assault wave was in a few yards from the stone fortress. A few troops threw molotovs at the top of wall, burning any unlucky soldier caught in by the flames. A few more threw grappling hooks over the wall while a few long ladders were placed in position in preparation to in scaling the barrier.
Meanwhile, the launch team successed in catching the catapult on fire while maintaining the element of susprise. The squad leader then ordered his men to jump from the back window and continue their trek to the wall. The catapult was going to be out of comission for the battle, and they needed to get to their objective. The team leaped from the second story to the allys below and continued their quick but careful trip to the wall.

Oh hell no not ALL the vampires just marched up to the city walls without a little resistance. The humans that did have visibility down the length of the wall could see the tortoise shape slowly moving towards them.
A darker-skinned guard raised his brow.
A white-haired guard spoke up, "They DO realize that's not going to protect them from falling boulders, right?"
The darker-skinned guard shrugged, AND TO LOADING THE CATAPULT THEY WENT! After carefully adjusting their aim, they set the oiled boulder aflame and chucked it towards the mess of shields.
"Merry Christmas~!" the white-haired guard yelled.
On the sections where visibility was reduced, the guards waited impatiently for a wind to kick up, until a flaming cocktail broke over on the stone. "CRAP!" the feather-necklaced guard shouted, patting his pants down in a frenzy to smother the flame. When the sound of a ladder hitting stone issued, the white-sashed guard rushed to one and pushed it down, only to almost be hit in the face by a grapple, which caught on the stone beside him. "Look alive! They're trying to get up!" he said to his comrades as he pulled the grapple up and threw it back onto the ground. The blue-eyed guard growled. Damn smoke... When another ladder hit the wall in front of him, he looked to the bucket and scrambled up and forward. He grabbed the bucket of oil and dumped the flammable liquid down the ladder. Snatching a torch, he lowered the fire to the wood and watched the hot colors course down. Yeah, try using your ladder now! Several archers had fallen. Now the bowmen had ducked and were hiding behind the parapet, quickly taking shots at random intervals, if they had the ability to see.
The guards in the street were too preoccupied with putting out the flames burning up the catapult, too distracted to notice the vampires sneaking away.
One of the guards looked at Zoshi. "We didn't want the people to panic! Besides, where would they go if we had to relocate them? Alliances with the wereanimals are shaky enough, and there's no way we'll force into the God forsaken desert."
A second guard cleared his throat. "But since you two know, will you help us defend this point?"

Zoshi's eyes hardened. Oh so letting the people sit there to be slaughtered was so much better? She shifted her shield on her arm before slipping her leg back slightly to widen her stance. "Well I'm certainly not about to stand by and let the people get killed." Or worse; turned.

Another guard of the several stationed flushed red, "Don't act as though we're so fucking incompetent! It's not as though we're going to just stand to the side and let the blood suckers march in without lifting a finger. If you're going to be such a bitch, then get the hell out of here, because I'm sorry but we just can't fucking afford it right now."
Lumi coughed into her hand, "She just means 'yes'."
"Should've just said that then..." the second guard muttered under his breath.

The formation marched fowarded towards the wall. They were so preoccupied with the wall ahead, they didn't realize the large stone being hurled at them. One of the soldiers managed to see the giant projectile and warned his compatriots about it. However, before the force broke off, there was a grand explosion in the sky. By grand chance, one of the vampire's explosive rounds hit the incoming human stone, causing stone and fire to rain down on the vampires and the human occupiants on the wall. Luckily, the vampire's formation allowed them block the smaller stone causing any major damage (dented shields and bruised arms, but still fight able. However, a few stoneshot did hit a few vampire bystanders standing next to Valmar). Any human that didn't take any apporiate cover along the wall was open season to a cannonball-sized stone beinging hurled at their face. Furthermore, the smoke continued to thickened up the battlefield, making harder to see the battle.
The launch team was finally near the wall, though there was a huge prescene of troops. The squad kept hidden behind a house. The leader spotted another catapult team, launching stone over the wall. The team wanted to attack but wanted to wait for the right moment.

"The hell?" the dark-skinned guard muttered when the two rocks collided, ducking behind a parapet and scrunching himself up with an archer.
"Commander~ I didn't know you liked me like that~" the heterochromia-eyed archer said teasingly, which earned him a light punch to the shoulder. When the rocks seemed to be done raining, he peeled himself off the parapet, followed by the white-haired guard.
"Are they STILL marching in that formation?" the white-haired guard asked in surprise.
"Load the catapult again!" the dark-skinned guard ordered. The hell the vampires could pull that off again! The white-haired guard did as was asked, adjusting the aim and firing another boulder at the vampire turtle.
"Happy Birthday!"
(I'm not playing another catapult team. XP All my established teams are on the wall.)

"That language doesn't suit you," Zoshi said coolly, taking a step back. "But I don't want to cause any tension. If you took some sleight to my words, I must apologize. And if you would really wish it, I will leave." She looked at the guard, waiting for his answer.
