1.) Main players are Cruz, Valmar, and Leon.
2.) Posting order, yadda yadda, after 2 days, you're skipped.
3.) Chocolate syrup.
Setting: Not actually in Riyer's plains, but this was the only board I thought would fit enough. Cruz' forces are being followed by Leon, while they scout for Valmar's forces and get ready to burn the vampires' siege weapons.
------------
Cruz traveled quickly along the border of the thin forest as he looked out for the vampire force. It couldn't be hard to find, although he hoped that whatever he found was relatively small. Stealth was of the essence, so the commander brought only ten soldiers with him, most armed with bows and all wearing light armor. They brought oil and flint with them in small packs, for the mission of burning whatever weapons the vampires were hauling with them.

One day Leon was looking for information about the current happens and the next day he found himself in them. For a long time Leon considered whose side he should be on, the vampires seemed like the less likely candidates to win with the werecats and werewolves involved, but they hadn't done anything yet. So he decided that the humans were actually less likely to win and joined them. He also took into account the vampires might try to eat him. If only he had the power he once did, this would be child's play.
The soldiers had little packs with them to set things on fire when they ran into them and Leon laughed to himself. 'Sad, but not everybody could be a fire mage.' They did however have the advantage of armor over him, but against a vampire how much good would it do? He kept up with the men keeping an eye out for foreign forces.

Movement for Valmar's army was going smoothly in the most part. Despite their numbers and the equipment they were hauling, they were making good speed towards their destination. They decided to set up camp in the surrounding forest of Riyer. While most men were camping on top the elevated plain, they spread out their heavy weapons below, behind the main campsite. They were hauling 2 trebrechets, 4 greek flamethrowers, and plenty of assorted ammo, including the gunpowder bombs. There were 4 guards for every siege weapon plus a few sentries that were spread out along the border. The guards were armored usually armed with a longsword or pole-axe. In case there was any trouble, a horn would be blown to alert the others in the camp. Hopefully, there wasn't going to be any trouble tonight.

Cruz raised his hand to signal his scouts to a stop. It looked like there was something up ahead. The blonde creeped along as his men silently followed, from behind trees to behind closer trees. Were those the vampires? He looked out and surveyed the campsite from a considerable distance, thankful that sunset still allowed him enough light to take in everything.
This was a war camp. It looked like he found the vampires. But there were all those sentries....
But they had fire.
Cruz looked up, gauging the wind's direction from the way the leaves blew. He then looked back to one soldier and spoke lowly. "Go around that way," he gestured against the wind. "Spark a fire so that it blows into their camp. We'll see what we can do from there."
A bright-eyed soldier looked behind them. Had he heard something?

Leon watched the man give orders to another man, it seemed like they were going start a fire in the vampires camp. 'That would normally be a good idea if we weren't all in a forest.' He started to wonder about the leadership in the human army, maybe there was a reason they were in trouble. His next move was going to be his most critical so he had to approach it carefully, if it failed things were going to suck very quickly.
He walked silently up to the blonde man who was giving orders, he seemed to be the most likely one to be in charge. Quietly enough not to alert the vampires he said "It seems to me you could use some help."

Suddenly there was a hooded man next to him, and Cruz jumped, scrambling away from the mysterious stranger. Three other soldiers had their bows in hand immediately, drawn and trained on Leon.
"Who are you?" Cruz asked. Oh God, was he a vampire? His hands balled into fists, willing back the memory of the first battle. "This is no place for a hiker." As though he looked like a hiker in the least...

Leon smiled at the man's jumping back, this was going to be much more fun than he thought. "Quick to react that's good, but if I wanted to kill you then I would have instead of alerting you to my presence." He looked at the men with theirs bows on him, he saw a slight fear in their eyes. 'They must think I am a vampire. How interesting.' "Now as I said it seems you could use some help. Those little packets aren't going to do a while lot unless you have an unfathomable amount." The oil packets looked sadly put together, it seemed like a great idea, but couldn't do a whole lot to a huge force. "Luckily for you I happen to be a fire mage."

Cruz gestured down, and the soldiers warily lowered their bows. At first he narrowed his brows when the man mocked the elements of their plan. Who did he think he was? But the blonde commander's expression returned to merely a stern one when the man offered his help as a fire mage. He wouldn't deny that they would need the help... and a magician that dabbled in their element would be useful. He felt off trusting this one... but he'd just keep his eye on him. "What's your name? You'll be compensated for your services."

He seemed to have angered the man slightly when he questioned the logistics of their plan, it was true though. The expression changed again when he learned that he was a fire mage, 'I got his interest, good.' It would kill anyone to tell them his name, besides it would help build some trust that was already shaky. He removed his hood, "My name is Leon, I'd be happy to help in any way I can."

Cruz took in the man's face as he lowered his hood. "Alright, Leon. I'm Cruz. I've been ordered to burn those war machines," he gestured to the trebuchets and other weapons. "But we need a distraction. We can't do anything with those sentries there."
(Ack, short.)

Leon took in the man's words very carefully, 'I had guessed as much not much else a force of ten guys could do in the middle of the might with a bunch of oil.' The war machines seemed to be pretty menacing looking from where he was standing and those at the castle could do some serious damage. He now had a better understanding of what probably happened at the first conflict, 'those things must have done a lot of damage.' "So you want me to distract the sentries? Any preferred method?"

"I was going to have Bart go and spark a fire to spread into their camp, so they'd be distracted with putting it out and give us time to burn the machines. I'd want you with the main group, to ensure the fire spreads to every device they have. Unless you think you have a better idea," Cruz said. He glanced up at the sky, and the last of the light was fading away. It was about time to make a move. He felt anxious in that once they started, they had to move fast.

"No I have no objections to that." He didn't really want to spend the time to think of anything else and time was something they were beginning to run short on. The plan had some flaws, but it was sound enough to get them going and that is what they need to do. 'I'm going to assume the main group has everyone except bart, which means he's probably going to die, then everyone else will be split to the fire group and the fighters, most likely 5 and 4. This is going to be interesting.' "I'm ready when you are."

Nearby, two vampires were scoping the area out. Both were heavifully armored and armed with swords and boards. So far, it seemed things were going well, no need to report any danger. However, one of the vampires caught scent of some humans. Whether it was a group of scouts or a bunch of traveler, he wasn't sure. He didn't want to risk of giving a false alarm, but he wasn't going to dismiss a protential danger. Tapping his comrade's shoulder, the duo followed their noses to investigate the scene.

The question was if Cruz was ready. Well, not really, but it was now or never. He turned to Bart. "Start it, and then get out of there. We'll regroup outside of the forest. The rest of you, come with me." The commander started making his way closer to the camp but stopped several yards away. They'd have to wait for the fire in order to do anything else.
The other soldier nodded before slinking in the aforementioned direction. After some searching, he found a spot where the wind was in his favor, and he wouldn't have to use any oil. Some shrubs had apparently beat out some rosemary plants when it came to collecting water, causing the rosemary to dry out and become perfect fuel. He knelt down, removing the flint and steel from his pack. After a few strikes, the rosemary lit with a small flame, which Bart coaxed up to the neighboring shrubbery. The live leaves caught fire after a few tries, which started to spread with the wind. Bart was afraid that the fire would die out at one point, but it gained a second wind, so to speak, and started to drift toward the vampire's camp.
