Rules of the Thread: 1. 2 Day Rule 2. We post in order, unless skipped 3. I'm Painis Cupcake, I will eat you Setting: Travis finally escorted Banez and Simon back to the castle. Happy Reunion Music: www.youtube.com/watch?v=SSR6ZzjDZ94
The group of four finally made it to the castle gates. It was lucky that they were able to find a traveling caravan that was heading towards Cados. They were escaping the impeding fog of war and mention that they were escorting the Royal Captain guard was good enough news to allow the four to travel with them. When they made it to the city wall, they were stopped by the hardened security by the gate. The guards didn't want anyone foriegn to enter the capital. When they realized that their long lost captain was part of the caravan, they immediately escorted the convey to the castle. Travis wasnt sure if he was excited to be behind the castle walls. The ranger wasn't too sure if Analisia should of left the group so early. He hoped she was alright. All he knew for now that they were finally safe for now.

During the time that they had traveled by caravan, Banez couldn't help be but a little happy. It was a small token of good fortune in a sea of misery. And the days spend traveling would be a reprieve of all the stress he would face when he returned to the castle, so the captain cherished the time while Simon had mostly slept with his face tucked into his knees.
Banez approached the castle wishing that he had better news, but his guards greeted him like happy puppies all the same. They opened the gates, quickly escorting Simon, Banez, and Travis into the castle while one guard ran ahead to announce their coming to the rest of the castle. The captain looked up at the castle's ridges and towers, smiling lightly when he took in the blue sky.

There was the knocking at his door again. The infernal knocking! His quill hovered in mid-air, and a single drop of ink gathered before splashing down onto the paper. He slammed it down, seething a moment before getting up and heading to the door. "For the love of God, what is it now?" he was sick of people coming to his chambers with report after report. He feared he might drown in them.
The guard at the door was unperturbed by his ire, eyes shining with excitement. "Advisor Lysand, Captain Gladpath has arrived in Cados."
Lysand was suddenly out in the hall, door slammed shut behind him. "Escort me to him. Now." He set off at his quick paced walk, causing the guard to have to jog to keep up with him. When eventually, he was lead to the incoming party, he froze in mid-step and just stared at them, as if he truly couldn't comprehend that they were back.

Travis looked around the courtyard. Just like the at the city wall, the security was heightened because of the fear of vampires. However, it didn't stop the guards from welcoming their captain back to the castle. They had many questions to ask him. Though one person that seemed most interested in Banez's return was Sir Lysand, who had the expression of spotting a long lost relative.

Banez couldn't help but realize after a few minutes that the castle looked like it was prepared to withstand a siege. It pulled him back to reality, where the vampires were likely setting out to capture the capital. They couldn't allow that to happen.
He looked over when Lysand appeared, and he paused for a brief moment before he gestured for his guards to pull away from him. "Advisor Lysand! I suspect you're expecting a report from me," he smiled broadly before turning to Travis. "Thank you for everything you've done. If you need anything at all, you can always call on me. And extend that to Lady Analisia, as well."

Lysand walked toward Banez, keeping his stride slow and deliberate. He looked to Travis for a long moment. That was the ranger that was inquiring about the near assassination. It seemed the man was quite apt at playing hero. However, he could find no words to say to the ranger at the moment. Instead, he turned his attention to the guard captain, stopping just in front of him. His expression was its usual mask of nothingness as he spoke. "You're late." He held the expression for a moment before he stepped forward and embraced the guard captain. Screw professionalism.

"I'm glad I helped," replied Travis with a bow, "I'll tell Analisia as soon as I meet up with her." Speaking of which, he should ask the royal authority if they received any news from Ana's clan. Even though he knew she was heading towards Nubulas, maybe he could enlightened her about their whereabouts.
However, before he could ask that question, the courtyard was interrupted by the tender scene of Advisor Lysand and Captain Banez hugging each other. The ranger couldn't recall them ever being close together but it became apperate to him now. They must of have a powerful bond.

Banez immediately wrapped his arms around Lysand and hugged the smaller man tightly, laughing lightly when the advisor commented on his tardiness. "I'll be more punctual in the future, I promise," he said quietly. The captain looked back to Travis, wondering what to say to the ranger now. Uhh... He wasn't sure what to say.

Lysand began to take a step back, but he stopped mid-motion, suddenly having little desire to part with the captain. "I'd appreciate that, captain. Really, I would." His muscles trembled for just a brief moment- a split second, and one would have to wonder if they really shook at all. His eyes moved to Travis. "You will be duly rewarded for your service to the kingdom." Having the ranger there, watching them suddenly made him a bit self-conscious about how close he was to Banez...

"I'll be quite honored, sir," Travis replied. The ranger couldn't help but notice that he felt like the elephant in the room. It seemed the advisor seemed to have anxious view of Travis. It was like he thought Banez was close to him, that is, he thought Travis might be taking away his best friend. He thought he should change subject. "Just curious, has there been any news from the werefolk?"

Banez stepped away from Lysand but still gave the advisor the comfort of his hand on his shoulder. At Travis' question, he looked to Lysand. The advisor would know more than him, as much as the captain didn't wish it so. How horrible would it have been if the werepeople sent news that they wouldn't arrive at Tiaelde just a few days after his force left?

"Nothing," Lysand replied quietly. "Not a word from them, and no sign of their ambassadors." He shook his head slowly. "We sent Brenthor out already. We should be able to find the answers to what happened to them soon."

The news was shocking to the ranger. There was still no news from the werecreatures, then again he should of expected that. Still, no words from either ambassador sent a shiver down his spine. Something bad must be going on between the two races, and he was afraid that Ana might get hurt. Yeah, she was an independent person and could handle herself, but even the most stubborn of people needed help. Besides, Travis wasn't sure if could trust Brenthor. He knew he was the ambassador, but he doubt he'll make it time (especially with that wieght holding him back). "I do ask a favor, can I have one of your horses? A fast horse." He asked, trying to sound as politely as possible.

No news? Banez' brows furrowed with worry. This wasn't right. Why was this all happening? It looked like Travis was concerned, as well. On Analisia's behalf, he supposed. Banez frowned with grief when Travis requested a horse. "I would in a heartbeat, Travis, but my horse fell at Tiaelde. I'm sorry," he said sadly. She was a good steed. Maybe Heaven would accept her.

Lysand looked to Banez when spoke. What horrors had he witnessed during that slaughter? He had to wonder if he would have been able to handle it if he was in Banez's shoes. He probably would have broken down in face of such a battle... But that was why he was a politician and not a guard captain. He gave a short nod. "Of course. It is the least we can do." He turned to one of the guards. "Go to one of the stables and fetch him a horse. If anyone should try to stop you, tell them that you're under my orders."
The guard nodded before leaving. He was soon to return with a dappled mare.
