Vieko slipped back into the castle, taking in the sights with a large grin. He had been appointed the spy outside of its walls, and it really was a grand place. So would it be overrun by vampires? He guessed he'd have to really think about helping.
He supposed the first thing he should do was report back to make his presence less suspicious. Everyone did like to be suspicious of him, after all! But he found that he didn't really know where he was going. Uhh... where was the guy that had hired him?
Geoffrey Feywivet was now standing around, looking horribly confused in the hall. Should he just ask a guard? But how would they know what to do about his job?

Lysand was in a rather snappish mood, and it seemed like everyone knew well enough to stay away. His features were an impassive mask, but his eyes... His eyes gaze all away, burning with a fire that caused the minor advisors he was in a meeting with to quickly find an excuse to busy themselves elsewhere.
However, the rage was just upon the surface. Just beneath it was the horrible twisting pain caused by the events of last night. The pain that he and Banez-
Who was that? Oh right, his spy. His anger flared up again as he walked toward him at his usual quick pace. "Just what the HELL have you been doing?" He should have reported that the wereanimals weren't going with the assault! He should have known! What the HELL kind of spy was he?

Geoffrey jumped and looked at the rapidly approaching advisor. So why did it feel like his doom was imminent? "Don't yell at me!" he replied fearfully. So what had happened now? It seemed like everyplace he went dropped with news the moment he left. "Things got complicated. But I know which route the vampires are taking."

"Let me guess. The route towards the castle." Lysand didn't bother to hide the scowl from his face. "Why the hell didn't you find out about the wereanimals not coming to Tiaelde? Do you know how many men died because of your ineptitude? Do you?" Not to mention that Banez almost got killed... He seethed for a moment before he looked to him again. "Vampires. What can you tell me about them. What are their numbers? What are they taking with them. Banez spoke of weapons in the mountains... Did they take any of those with them?"

"I went to both the wereanimals! They didn't say a damn thing!" he took to yelling. What the fuck that the advisor doing with blaming him? As if HE killed all those men. "I do. I saw the aftermath. It was horrible. And don't think for a second that I left the scene without mourning and throwing up." Fucking.... He wanted to just leave. He didn't have to take this. Did the advisor think that he was the only person Vieko had to serve? "Five hundred or so," he lied. "And they brought a couple of catapults," he added.

Incidentally yes. Lysand did think he was the only one he had to serve. How was he supposed to know that the spy was proverbially whoring himself out to everyone? His eyes narrowed and the expression faded from his face. "This type of failure better not happen again, Feywivet. A lot is riding on your information. Don't think for a minute that I'd hesitate in replacing you. That necklace I gave you isn't a cheap toy I got so you could have tea parties with the wereanimals."

"Yes, sir...." he said, demoralized. And what was he supposed to do? Not whore himself to everyone? Maybe if they hired more spies, the advisor wouldn't be hindered by late information while he made passes at all the other races! "I wish I had the time for tea parties," he complained. "Where do you want me to go now? Back to the vampires?" Mmph... he didn't really want to go back there. He had nine hours as a vampire, but being around all those creatures still got a little nerve-wracking, especially when a battle was about to break out.

"No," Lysand replied quietly. "There's not enough time for you to go to them and get anything useful. I want you to go to the werewolves; see if Ambassador Brenthor convinced them to come to our aid. If not, then try to convince them yourself."

"Alright. I'll just get some supplies and then go." In order words, poke around the barracks to get documents on the new guard shifts, then run out to tell Valmar that he at least notified the bartender to ready those twenty kegs.... It was hard to believe that the vampires were going to attack Cados, and that everyone was about to go at everyone's throats. Everything had seemed so peaceful when he first left! "Can't you.. try to reason with the vampires or anything?"

"Are you an idiot?" Lysand asked flatly. "You can't reason with the vampires. How do you reason with someone who needs to drink your blood to survive? What do you want me to do? Offer them a tribute of our people to keep them from attacking? I could never do anything like that. The vampires need to die. They will just keep killing and killing until they're gone."

Fine, he wouldn't even try, then! The humans could just try to fight them and all die! Vieko narrowed his eyes, as would anyone that was just insulted. "Are you not through abusing me, or can I go now?"

"Leave," he snarled. He went to his coin purse before removing the gold coins that he owed the man for his services. He threw them at him, before he turned away. "If you don't like the way I treat you, you can always give the necklace back," he said icily.

Vieko flinched when the gold was thrown at him. What the hell?! He wasn't even sure how to react to being treated this way, by a kingdom he had assumed was alright. Apparently not. Apparently its advisor was a dick. He didn't say anything to Lysand, just knelt down and started picking up the gold, burning with an odd-placed sense of shame.

Lysand just walked away then, expression disappearing as he silently fumed. His eyes were cold as he headed toward the barracks. He would have to inform someone that there were siege weapons on the way. Great. As if this fight wasn't already going to be a living hell.

After filling his coin purse with the gold, he stood up. He didn't know that the barracks were where the advisor was going, so he pointedly turned away and started making his way towards a different part of the castle. Maybe if he ran into the library, he could read a little to take his mind off of this encounter, and take his mind off the question if this whole thing was really worth it....
