Rules: 1. Unless you have business in werewolf territory, you probably won't fit in. 2. The usual stuff.
-------
The werewolf alpha raised his snout, taking a large whiff of the cool forest air. That pungent scent... Bear. More than one if he wasn't mistaken. It wasn't rare for there to be bears in the forest, but never before had he scented one so close to their settlement. Eyes narrowing, he bared his fangs in irritation.
This wasn't acceptable. There were pups that were just beginning to reach their wandering stage that wouldn't last even a minute against a bear, let alone two or three, depending on how many there were. They were going to have to drive them out. Perhaps even kill them if they had no other choice. Harrier wasn't about to allow his pack to stay in danger.
Scenting the air again, he lowered his snout, beginning to follow the scent just to get an idea where the beasts were headed when they passed by earlier in the day. The scent was a bit old, but not old enough for his liking... Perhaps they were still lurking nearby.

His mismatched blue and amber eyes pear from beneath short messy black locks of hair, enjoying the familiar sights and sounds of the forest. He couldn't imagine how some werewolves lived among humans, away from Naulas, the peace of the forest, and most of the pack. His mind would have continued to wander if he hadn't caught the sound of company.
Kahjit watched the white form of an arctic wolf, snuffing the ground as he followed a scent. With a gentle inhale he found the scent of the bears that the alpha must have been following. Lightly rubbing the back of his hand against a freckled cheek, he slowly approached the other wolf. “Worried?” His voice was hazy and soft, if brief. A gauzy light green tunic shifted on his 6'2” form as he crouched a short ways from Harrier, bringing him about to the other's level without the effort of shifting into a wolf.

Indigo paused, raising his head. He had been laying beside the small brook, his jaw resting against the cool stone and his eyes sleepy grey slits, enjoying the quiet gurgle of the stream and the faint breeze. Winter was fast approaching, and days such as this were limited.
That's an odd smell, he remarked, sniffing the air again. His mind was crowded with the distant consciousnesses of his fellow wolves, dull white noise in the back of his mind. They were far enough away from the center of Naulas that he could not openly intrude on others thoughts, but close enough so that a loud mental call would still reach them.
Tuari's voice, however, was as clear in his head as if he had thought the words himself. What is? rather distracted, Indigo's twin was poised at the edge of the bank, the tip of his snout centimeters from the water's surface as he studied the movements of the minnows beneath. After barreling in after them for over half an hour, he had thought to try another approach to his nearly impossible endeavor.
Thought I smelt a bear, said the first twin, getting to his feet. Shaking out his coat, he glanced back to where the rest of his kin were meandering. But that'd be awful close to the pack.
A succession of splashes told him Tuari had abandoned his pastime and joined him at the other side of the river. Well, Harrier won't be happy about that, he said, and by unspoken consent the pair began trotting back to get in on the fun.
Seems we've got a situation on our hands, eh gents? Tuari said upon finding his Alpha and the Guard Captain a few moments later.

Harrier lifted his head to look at the guard captain. He snuffed at the ground one last time before he gave a nod. Yes. This is much to close to the pack. We can't have this. Being that he was still in wolf form, he was communicating with the mind link that was innate to all werewolves. He looked up, knowing that Tuari and Indigo were approaching without having to turn around to look. Situation. I'd say so. This isn't safe. His paw scuffed against the ground.
Kahjit, have the patrols reported anything like this to you? His eyes scanned the area as he took note of the broken underbrush that a meandering bear would cause. Well either way... We're going to have to drive these bears out.

Kahjit turned his head slightly to regard the twins, before returning his attention to Harrier. "Nothing so close." Bears in the forest weren't unusual, after all. Who would have expected they'd risk coming so close? He nodded, well aware they couldn't allow the beasts to be so close to their home.
He dropped his hands to the ground, feeling the grass for a moment, before his palms were replaced with pads, and fingers became digits of either paw. The rest of his body followed, a flow of the more neutral black, light brown, and white of his fur replacing the bright tunic. How many bears?

Right then, Indigo interjected, despite the fact that he had not been addressed, how many do you think we're dealing with?
Who knows, chimed in Tuari, perhaps they'll leave peacefully. They'd be fools to take several of us on at once.
/That was awful./

Harrier closed his eyes, breathing in deeply. He took a moment to consider. Three. Three bears. Three bears that ventured this close. It's strange though. They don't normally travel together. He turned to look at the twins. So then you haven't noticed anything while you were out? Perhaps they have moved on then, but... Perhaps not. Many pups are beginning their wandering stage. I would not want them to come across a bear. We need to seek them out. Perhaps you are right and they will leave peacefully. I can only hope so.

Kahjit was not sure it'd be easy to discourage three bears from going where they wanted. But if something had driven them closer to the pack then they'd have normally risked, this would be a good way to find out early. Then again, maybe the bears were just foolish and hungry. He pressed his muzzle to the ground, breathing in the Earthy scents. When he thought he had an idea what direction the bears had gone in, he regarded Harrier and the Twins. Then lets go.

Are you sure you have the proper numbers for this?
An elderly wolf came walking in from the rear of the group. His silver pelt stood out from the rest of the group. Baba sensed there was a disturbance; a threat that could harm the pack. While bears were simple creatures and rarely entered near their territory, they were a dangerous foe. They were fierce, large creatures; it usually takes pack to kill one bear. But three bears was pushing the limit.
I hope we're not going to attack them with these numbers
Though, the old wolf did wonder why so many bears were in the forest. It was one thing a lone bear did enter wonder into the forest in hopes of food. However, to have a pack to appear is quite alien. He wondered if there were any problems in the adjunctive lands.

Blacksheep! Tuari and Indigo called cheerily in unison as the elder approached. Unlike his rich skin color, the ancient (in the twins' minds) Werewolf possessed a vivid silver coat, which stood out among the gathered wolves.
Good thing you showed, Tuari trotted to his side, nipping playfully at his tail. You almost missed the fun.
Let's go already, whined Indigo impatiently. His own tail sweeping excitedly from side to side, he was all too ready to follow Kahjit's suggestion, and had trotted to the head of the group. I bet they're just cubs- or a mom with cubs- that wandered too close. Has to be why there's three of 'em, and we'll run off cubs easy. You all are worrying too much.
Giving a final teasing snap at Baba's tail, Tuari sped off past Harrier and Kahjit, past his brother, and into the trees, Indigo fast on his tail, both attempting to beat the other.

Harrier dipped his head in greeting to his advisor. He had respected the elder's opinion, and was inclined to agree now. Perhaps we have too few. We could always go back and get- But there were the twins, running off without thinking. He growled slightly, snapping his teeth in frustration. Yes, trust them to run off like that.
We're going to have to go after them before they get themselves killed. If the bears are too strong we'll pull back, but we might as well do some scouting. The alpha glanced to the remaining pair before he gave them a quick bod, bounding after them.

Kahjit snorted when the twins took off ahead. Undisciplined rascals couldn't even wait for their alpha to lead them? He let Harrier trot past, before chasing after him, trusting Baba to keep up. Tuari and Indigo would certainly learn their lesson if a bear mauled them; hopefully they wouldn't have to learn it the hard way. Maybe it was just a few black bears. They tended to be small, and not to hard to run off.

The Twins were always a joy and frustation for the elder. Their youthful charm and playful antics were something that Baba liked about them since when they were pups. However, it was also their young mindset that made them a hassel to control. Their lack of maturity and patience have always landed the two in danger. No matter how many times he lectures the two, they seem to block what he must say and proceed with the status quo.
Because of the Twins early start, they had to proceed forward without any addition reinforcements. The advisor kept up with the younger wolves, despite his age. Baba could of headed back to the tribe to get more help, but he wanted to be part of the action. Besides, he wanted to see how Harrier will react to the problem; he wanted to see how effective he was as a leader.

The irritation from the others was evident on the wolves' mental link, but the twins could hardly care less. Concerned only with beating the other, they sped through the trees, their paws glancing nimbly between gnarled, groping roots and darting through lush undergrowth, the buzz of their superiors' minds' fading into a murmur as they got further away.
So concerned were they with their game that, as was typical of them, they did not see the danger until it was directly upon them. It has been disputed which Misae twin it was to win the race, but what was certain was that Indigo happened to glance up and see the bear first, and wisely slammed on the brakes, whereas Tuari had blindly charged into the massive bulk that was the beast's side. Before given time to recover, the creature gave a startled, furious roar and swiped a huge paw at the wolf who, dwarfed in size, was sent sprawling into a shallow ditch and out of his brother's sight. Shocked back to reality, the remaining twin froze, dipping his shoulders and baring his teeth with a deep growl, ears flat against his head in warning and hair on end. He had forgotten entirely that it had been estimated there were three bears around, and the entirety of his concentration fell to this first one.
All the while he called vainly for Tuari to respond, though he could not sense his brother's mind.

Harrier rounded around a tree just in time to see Tuari get slammed by the bear. That bear hurt a member of HIS pack! HIS pack! A savage snarl ripped from his throat as he tore towards the bear.
Baba, check on Tuari! Kahjit with me! Indigo, circle around. The best thing you can do is drive this bear off for now! Everyone keep alert for the other two!
The werewolf alpha launched himself at the bear, fangs aiming to sink into the bear's neck.
