Banez' fists clenched with metallic clinking of his gauntlets. "My loyalty lies with the royal family and my friends, not some manipulative pig that threatens and insults me since the first step of our travels! You're lucky you don't have to see him on a day to day basis!" He took a deep breath, trying to regain his head. Traveling days with Brenthor had to be enough for anyone to lose it.
"Yes..." Banez said to Harrier. To Chey, he explained, "We're going to prepare an assault on the mountain, but we need the help of the wereanimals. You have the senses to smell where any vampires are, and to ensure that we neutralize every last one of them. We all need to work together to cleanse Thrunalhin of this blight."

"Wow, we are quite fiesty today, Harry." Chey mused, slowly moving around the pool towards Banez so their conversation could be held in more comfortable tones. "I'm sure Captain Gladpath is more than qualified. You're the one who's qualifications, if not plain sanity, should be questioned."
Chey stopped a few feet before Banez, taking in his appeance. She stared at him for a while, as if trying to get a feel for him, before speaking. "If we were to assist you, is there anything you could offer us in return? Not that I'm greedy...merely interested. I plan to help your kind either way, since my hatred of those vampires is not easily matched...but I'm curious. What could you offer us?"

Fiesty because /she/ was there. His eyes narrowed at her before he glanced at her. Harrier didn't know what to make of the guard captain's outburst. A short tempered man, apparently. Or Brenthor really was a fat pig. He didn't know. It made him wonder why the humans would send two people who obviously didn't get along out together. Perhaps there was more than this man traveling with him. He didn't know. "Forgive me if I have touched a nerve, captain."
He shook his head slowly at Chey's words. "Trust a werecat to think of what can be gained! The werewolves will help you because it is the right thing to do! We would not ask- not even dream of receiving anything in return!" Tch. Selfish werecats.

Banez took another deep breath before addressing Harrier. "Please don't worry about it. This trip has just been short of an ordeal for me. Forgive me for lashing out at your people." Of all things, be on good terms with the alpha wolf! The captain threw in a short bow, only to straighten up when Chey approached to size him up. She was a good deal shorter than him, but without a spear, he would rather not get into a fight with her.
What /could/ they offer the werecats? Well, they could offer the werecats many things, but she had already said that she would help either way. After all, she had sent her own ambassador with the message to help humans. On the flip side, maybe the werewolves could dream /a little/.... But how to answer Chey's question elegantly... "We... will just have to see," he answered before looking to Harrier. "Thank you. You'll be bettering the land for everyone."

Chey nodded brusquely. "Us werecats would be honored to work alongside you in the effort to be rid of those demons once and for all. Reward or not. The only reward I truly require is the satisfaction of seeing vampires' afterlives end at my hands." She pounded her fist onto her opposite palm to emphasize the word 'down'. She took another long look at Banez before continuing. "If we band together- human, werewolf, and werecat alike- we should be able to accomplish this."

Harrier looked over at her sharply. "... The werecats will be taking part in this too? I don't recall this being mentioned by the captain." He frowned, looking at her when she mentioned working together. "And you truly believe that your people will band together to face them? The last time I checked your kind doesn't hold any true loyalty to you or each other." And moreover, he didn't think he could trust them not to jump his wolves while they were in the dark mountain passes...

"Well, the werecats were the ones to bring our attention to it. It would be part form not to include them as well," Banez answered Harrier. He looked from the werewolf alpha to the werecat chief and back, wondering if they should work it out between themselves or it he should take a greater part in the conversation. "Yes," he nodded to Chey, although the whole 'trust' thing between the races was going to be a tricky thing to find a good ground for. "I figured that when searching the mountain some groups will break off, where some human soldiers would group up with werewolves, and some humans would group with werecats."

“And the last time I checked, your people didn’t even know how to spell the word ‘loyalty’, yet alone possess it. Let me take care of my own people, Harrier.” Oooh, the full name. She meant business.
“That sounds like a good plan. It’ll need more thought, yes, but the basic premise could easily work. How much mountain to we plan to search? All of it, or a specific part?” Chey questioned, tucking a stray strand of hair behind her ear.
( GAH, terrible post. )

Harrier turned his head to the werecat leader, more than a hint of scorn in his voice. "You'd have to be a true idiot not to know of the werewolves loyalty to each other." He paused a moment before adding. "And if the werecats were the one to bring it to their attention, how is it that their leader doesn't have any idea how much of the mountain to search? Your scout must have scented them..." He took a moment to consider Banez's proposal. "Yes, as long as the werecats and werewolves are kept separate, I see no harm in your plan."

"Please, this back and forth of insults is childish. If what you have to say to each other doesn't have anything productive to each other, then please keep it to yourself." To Chey, Banez shook his head, "We can't leave any part of the mountain unsearched! Leaving just one vampire alive could undo the entire mission." Assuming that they found any... But why would the werecats lie to them? "Our forces will meet in Tiaelde, then? I can prepare my men and arrive there in a little more than a week's time. How long will you two need?"

Chey sighed and nodded slowly, seeing Banez's point (though she would never admit it out loud, the prideful kitten...) and stopping her banter with Harrier. Whether he would continue or not was yet to be seen.
"I'd give me at least two weeks. Not that I mean to slow you all down; I will just need time to get all the werecats together. Harrier is partially right; my ranks are fairly scattered." She bit her lip, hating the fact that her enemy was actually correct in his assumptions for once. "I shall have them ready within that timeframe, though, whatever the cost."

Hmph. Good. The bratty werecat decided to shut up. He took a moment, eyes narrowing in thought. "It would not take long to gather a force of werewolves. I would need less than a week. But I suppose then we'll meet at the mountains in two weeks, if that's what's needed." His arms crossed. "Is there anything else that's needed to be discussed?"

"Yes, we'll meet at Tiaelde in two weeks. Gather as many werecats as you can, but we can't wait too long." Banez paused, trying to think of if Brenthor had talked about any other topic he meant to discuss with the wereanimals. Hmmm.... Nope, he couldn't think of anything. "That's the message we meant to send you. Unless you have any other questions."

Chey shook her head resolutely. "No, I believe I understand the plan. I will try and assemble as many of my forces as possible, Captain Gladpath. And in the time alloted." She cast a glance at Harrier over her shoulder. "What about you, Harrier? Have any questions of your own?"
( Not sure what else I could say here... )

Harrier shook his head. "I need nothing more. We will meet in two weeks time." He dipped his head to the human. "Good day, Captain Gladpath. May you hunt well." He shifted into his wolf form, without acknowledging the werecat. Lifting his snout for a moment and scenting the air, he bounded off. There was much preparation that he needed to accomplish.
Besides, the air here was tainted with the stench of werecat.
