Lysand dove out of the way of the two daggers. If he had more finesse, he would have come up in a roll. However, as it was, he jumped back up to his feet, coming in at her. "I have only ever done what I thought was best for Thrunalhin!" His rapier came in to slash at her side. He was hardly what one considered a master at it, but with adrenaline pumping through his veins, he wasn't to be taken lightly. His breath came heavily as blood pumped through him and his expression was on the verge of cracking.

Avi barely dodged his attempt to strike her side, but her shirt was ripped. She felt a small cut at her side, but it was barely enough to hurt with all the adrenaline in her. He'd have to try just a bit harder to get at her like this.
"Of course you have. That's what they all say!" Avi ran towards him and jumped up, landing with a roundabout swing of her dagger. Even if it barely made it into him, the blade was jagged, so the cuts would have a more ragged feel, and they would last longer.
Brenthor was right. He was right about this man. This man was evil! If Avi really cared as much about the people of Thrunalhin as she said she did, she might have given Brenthor his money back, but she enjoyed money more than random people. For all she knew, the random people of Thrunalhin could be just as evil as this man! Still, the Royal Family that she remembered didn't deserve a man such as Lysand. They deserved better.

Lysand's cool facade crumbled as he stumbled back from a cut on his chest. His eyes went wide and he was shaking. "Guards!" he shouted. They couldn't possibly be far away! "Guards! Somebody! Help me!" His voice was edged with panic as he was aware of the crimson dripping down his leg and chest. He inhaled deeply, bringing his blade forward, looking as if he were aiming for her neck, but then swinging downwards to slash toward her side. What was Banez's strategy for him again? Basically to find an opening for him to run, right?

Avi wasn't afraid when Lysand called the guards. What were they going to do? There weren't even any guards around here! The adrenaline was building and building to the point that she was shaking. Her successful hit only made her even more confident. All the adrenaline was starting to keep her reflexes down, though, keeping her from avoiding Lysand's next slash.
This time the sword actually cut into her side. The adrenaline couldn't keep all the pain away, but she was gonna get the job done before she left. Brenthor and the people of Cados were depending on her. She stood up, although there was some added difficulty with her fresh wound, and slashed at Lysand again.
The first few were blind slashes, but she finally decided to go for his legs and slashed at his ankles.

The problems with rapiers being so light were that they couldn't block well. Lysand jumped back, to avoid the slashes. His body stung, but there was too much confusion in his mind. to register what was hit and what was not. Then she suddenly lunged for his ankles. He managed a weak smirk. "I'm wearing boots, dear." The slash wouldn't be very effectual there. He slammed his boot forward, hoping to catch her in the ribs.

Avi felt a hard pain in her stomach as Lysand kicked her. Darn, the ankles weren't the best place to aim after all. Quickly, she rolled backward and jumped up, the cut in her side burning more and more as the adrenaline began to wear off. She looked down at her legs and realized that she had plenty more throwing daggers just waiting to be used, so she took the chance to gather them up in between her fingers.
"And I'm wearing cold steel," she said, smiling maliciously and throwing the daggers at Lysand one by one. The adrenaline built up again and kept the pain in the back of her mind as she set into her battle process. She quickly picked up a length of silk from her dress and tied it tightly around her torso to prevent bleeding from her side.

Lysand was a palace advisor. He was no soldier. As much as the adrenaline pumped through him, he couldn't dodge all the daggers. His eyes widened, a silent 'oh' forming on his lips as one of the daggers hit his chest. The rapier fell limply from his hands, and he fell to his knees, breath coming heavily. A hand raised to his chest, pulling the blade out before pressing against it, the crimson staining his hands. He tilted his head up to find her eyes, unable to hide his emotions any longer. His eyes watered from uncontrollable tears of pain. "Is this really how... It's going to end?"

Avi picked up the rest of the pieces to her dress and walked over to Lysand, kneeling beside him. For a moment, as the adrenaline died down, she actually felt sorry for him. For all she knew, this could have been the worst day of his life. Maybe it started out with him falling off the bed and ended with him falling off the edge of the earth. Maybe not...
The sorrow faded, though, and she gathered up her daggers, watching as tears streaked down the man's face. He was the Advisor, not the Guard Captain, so he probably wasn't used to attacks like this, but his little bodyguard wasn't here to save him this time. This time, it was really the end. He would no longer pollute the mind of the Prince, and he would no longer be able to carry out his plan. Brenthor would be proud.
As she finished gathering up her mess and continued back to Lysand, though, she couldn't help but feel sorrow bubble up in her stomach. A very small amount, surely, but still...it was there.
"I don't know. Is this the end? Only God can tell."
She kneeled down in front of him and looked him in the eyes. "Either way, my mission was to stop you from carrying out your plan against the Prince. Brenthor wanted death, but..."
Maybe I've said too much...
"Anyways, never mind that. Look, I'll leave you here. If someone finds you, then, congrats. It must be your lucky day." She proceeded to wrap the cotton and silk pieces to her dress around Lysand's mouth and eyes to blind and mute him, and around his hands and legs to bind him. They weren't too strong, but he probably couldn't move very well at the time, anyways.
Avi stood up and started to walk away, but stopped and looked back at Lysand for a moment, sighing. "Well. I truly hope this was for the best..."

Lysand's eyes widened. "Brenth-" but then the gag was placed in his mouth, and he could say no more. Constrained as he was, he couldn't cry out for help. Trembling, he felt pain coursing through him and he let his tears flow. Banez wasn't there to protect him. Did anyone even know he was gone from the castle? How long would it take them to realize? How long would it take for the life to bleed out of him?
What was it like to die? Would he be reunited with his father? Or perhaps he would be taken away to Banez's Angel Haven. He felt his consciousness begin to fade away, and he suddenly felt himself being lifted. Perhaps Banez was right about there being an Angel Haven after all... It was certainly a comforting thought.
"Shit." The guard that found Lysand laid him over his shoulders quickly. "Shit! Advisor Lysand, hold on!" He turned, beginning to run back to the castle, not even bothering to remove the bindings. "You can't die, Captain Gladpath would kill us! Just don't die!"
