"I do not kill this girl. You have already done that. Instead, I offer her a chance for eternal life, unlike the eternal hell that you wish upon her." His eyes lowered the the vampire clinging to his legs, then rose at the shattering sound. He attempted to moved back, but with the girl clinging to his legs...
The world went silent for him as he stared down at the line of maroon that suddenly appeared on his chest. His knees hit the ground, but drawing shaking breaths, he spoke, voice quiet. "I do not lie. My Lord is a forgiving one. You who would turn others to sin cannot speak for My Lord, My God." He drew another shaky breath before quoting, “For God loved the world so much that he gave his one and only Son, so that everyone who believes in him will not perish but have eternal life. God sent his Son into the world not to judge the world, but to save the world through him.' ... Everyone." He gently laid a hand on the shoulder of Locket. "The Lord did not forsake the vampires. It is the vampires who forsake him!" He made a motion with his hand, manipulating the water in the blood leaving his body. He forced his weakness away to stand. "Repent, for the kingdom of heaven is at hand!" The priest whipped his hand out, sending the thin stream of red tinged liquid toward the vampire. It wriggled through the air like a snake before it would attempt to wrap around the vampire's neck.

Banez stood up when Shield backed up, glad for the breathing room, however brief. His expression hardened when told that he wasn't going to die, slowly replaced with a more horrified expression as the vampire described just what was to happen to him should he lose the fight, his regained focus just as quickly lost. Oh... oh God! "I would sooner commit suicide than have the overglorified tacks that you call teeth anywhere near me," the captain barked, his brows quickly narrowing with resolve. As the vampire's kick came, Banez threw his shield up. The impact caused the knight to gasp, as the force sunk through the shield, through his gauntlet, and seemed to to reverberate in his bones. He dropped his shield arm, fearful that another strike like that might break his arm. Without missing a beat, the knight went on the offensive, charging Shield and aiming a swift sword strike into his neck.

“You used[i/i] to offer her eternal life. That card is no longer in the deck.” She shook her head, watching the priest fall to the ground. It was good the fan blades didn't cut very deep, she didn't to add a dead priest to her growing list of sins. She'd just stop him from being able to act against them.. let the other decide if he must die. Her conscience couldn't take the blow. Distracted by her thoughts of guilt, she was snapped back to the present as the blood was manipulated through the air. She snapped the fan at it, attempting to disrupt the bloods movement, but unsure of the priest's aim.
Locket shrank back from Father Arzen's touch, at his words simply making the sign of the cross over her body. If god hadn't forsaken her, why did the priest insist on killing her? If her soul wasn't truly damned, as he said, than she should still have the right to live! Her voice ruined until she fed the hunger burning in her stomach- an answer in itself to her questions- she was unable to voice her heart breaking confusion.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Shield smiled, his expression destructive despite his seductive words, “Oh, I think I could make you change your tune. If you lowered your weapon, the change could be oh so pleasurable~ I could bring you to your highest point, before I drag you to your lowest.” Responding to Banez's movement, he jerked the shield up to protect his neck. The blow from the larger man was enough to nearly knock Shield on his side, though the vampire managed to just barely recover his balance as he stumbled a few steps away.
His fingers stroked the dapple grey, whispering calming words to the agitated young horse as he road her quietly down the street, the sounds of clashing metal, and a burning scent at his back as he lead Kaolin towards the castle. His head was bowed, dirt blond hair hanging like a curtain around his neutral face, as he paused in his comforting murmurs to listen to the fight at the city walls, crumbling under the assailants assault. It seemed he had good timing to visit the city after all.
On any other occasion he'd have rushed to the gate, but he still remembered the sight of those pale patrons of the Dragon's Keep. They'd attempted attempted to entertain the young Tier, and it occurred to him only now that rather than lure the boy out into an alleyway to steal his money, they might have been after his blood. If there were vampires already in the city, the castle should be warned of it!
Feeling some of the tension leave his shoulders as he reached the shadow of the castle, he gently urged Kaolin to a stop beside the large stone wall, and slipped from his horse's saddle. He took a deep breath, drawing a calm over his body before gently pushing his hands forward. Corresponding to the gesture, the stones making up the wall parted for the mage, and remained displaced until he stoled inside. The stones fell back into their patter, groaning as the weight of the wall settled.
His brow furrowed over blue grey eyes, before Shadi rushed down the hallway, looking foolish for heading straight to the castle, but somehow sure it was where he wanted to be.
"You're wrong," Arzen replied quietly. "Do not presume to know God's will." He watched as his blood hit the fan, causing it to be deflected, but he wasn't done yet. He raised his hands and 'caught' it in the air before the reformed itself, thinner than the last time, but longer. "My Lord would not punish those who were snared by the wicked!" He spread his hands, splitting the whip into two before sending one shooting towards her, a tip forming of ice into a sharp barb to impale her. The other whip moved lower, curling to try to take her down by hitting the back of the knees after the other attack either hit or was deflected.
Banez had other people threaten his life, his secrets, his honor, his loved ones, and his eyes, but never had his purity been threatened before. His heart pounded in his chest now that the stakes managed to get even higher, which apparently had been possible. After shaking off the horror that came with the vampire's 'offer', he rushed in pursuit of Shield as the creep scrambled away, gritting his teeth and swinging his sword in an enraged frenzy to strike anything he could aim for. "No means no!"
Post by Lorin Ciro Garnidell on Apr 13, 2011 21:53:12 GMT -5
Lorin traveled with the blonde guard, stopping and looking out one of the window as he saw billowing towers of black smoke rising from the city walls. Were the soldiers alright? They really were done for, weren't they? He had failed his kingdom, and his friend. But apparently the king was at peace, but then again, it seemed that he had accepted death a while ago.
"Father..." Lorin had said as he entered the king's chambers just several moments before. "Vampires are in the castle."
The king looked over the side of his bed, a white cup of medicine on the stand beside him as always. His haggard face was slowly but surely regaining its original color, but any sort of fight was out of his expression. "They breached the castle, eh? I suppose it was just a matter of time." He closed his eyes, momentarily tranquil before a dry, grating cough racked his body. "My life is forfeit. You need to escape while you can, live your life. I pulled you into this, and I wouldn't blame you if you wanted to give it up."
Lorin shook his head slowly, approaching the bed to take the king's hand. The idea of going into hiding, becoming a nobody, was tempting. But in the end, his sense of duty overwhelmed any cowardly thought. "I made a promise. I'm not going back on it."
The king's lips pulled into a smile. "You're a very admirable young man. Seeing you grow was one of the greatest pleasures in my life. Goodbye..."
"Your highness, we need to keep moving."
Lorin looked back at the blonde guard with pensive eyes and nodded slowly. The king was waiting to die, but he still had a chance to... to do something. He left the window, trotting with the blonde guard down the hallway quietly, with his heart racing in his chest. With the rest of the guards concentrated where the vampires were coming from, this section of the castle seemed eerily silent.
The blonde and redhead rounded a corner, stopping in their tracks when they saw an unfamiliar group heading in their direction, the pale individuals of which included a dark-haired young man and a... well, a person with very long blonde hair.
If it was possible for his heart to beat faster... well, it was.
“Then do not presume to choose death and heaven for her! If she has done no wrong in your or god's eyes, leave her in this state to choose death or murder of her own volition.” She knew her words were hypocritical- she'd chosen undeath for Locket, after all. But her soul was already forfeit, she was allowed immoral actions, she would not cut the priest the same. The slim shard of blood pierced her back, as she twisted away from the ship. Snapping one of the fans shut, she reached over her shoulder, grasping uselessly at the frozen barb of glass, sticking out from beneath her shoulder blade, out of reach.
~~~~~~~~~
Shield raised the shield, not quite in time so that the captain's blade glanced off the bottom to bite into his side. The vampire hissed with pain, but managed his creeper smile, “Your mouth says no, but your eyes say...” Well, the captain's eyes said 'die bastard', if anything. “You're far to virtuous. If god didn't want you to sin, he wouldn't have given you free will.”
~~~~~~~~~
He almost heard the sweet beats of the boys heart before he saw it's owner heading quickly down the hall from its opposite side. It took him a moment, but recognition of the smaller of the two mortals sparked in his mind, “Your highness. What a kind host, not leaving your guests to wander your halls. You've saved me so much time for not having to go looking for you.” He stepped forward, smile gentle, and a complete lie. “Your castle and your city are lost. Let me give you some advice; Surrender, and save not just yourself, but your people so many more casualties.” It was to perfect. He had the prince just within his reach. He'd kill him, and if he could convince the boy to surrender first, it would be all the sweeter victory. But no matter what the child spoke, his death was imminent now.
The other vampires stood in the background looking cool, and intimidating.
That mouse was the prince of all of Thrunalhin? For some reason, Ashemir thought he would be taller, with dark hair and stronger features. But then again, he wasn't familiar with the royalty at all, so what would he know? The blonde stood by Seriah with a similar expression to the other vampires surrounding him, brow twitching just slightly when the warlord offered safety in exchange for a surrender. Haha... The look that would be on the prince's face when he realized that his blood was on that baselard would be priceless.
As Lorin's wide brown gaze met the vampire warlord's chilling, calculating eyes, something stirred in the jumbled shards that seemed to make up his mind, but he couldn't place what it was. Was it anger? Something assured and resolved. Despite this, his voice still sounded rather meek, "You're the one that orchestrated this assault? Just to ask me to surrender myself to you? What good would surrendering do; you're to seize and kill my people either way. I understand the history of oppression and death that humans have brought upon vampires, and you seem ready to respond in kind. So what could I possibly offer you that would cause you to end this slaughter?"
"Your highness, flee now," the blonde guard commanded in a hushed voice.
"But there's-"
"Go. Dead or alive, is there much of a difference for you or me?"
After a brief pause, Lorin muttered, "Thank you, for all you've done for me." God must know that he didn't deserve it.... The prince turned on his heel and fled down the hall that they had came from, with all the speed his legs could bring him. Where would he even go from here? He wasn't sure. He just knew that he wouldn't let that guard think that his land stand would be in vain.
The blonde guard gripped his spear as he faced the group of vampires, his hazel eyes filled with the knowledge that he wasn't going to be alive in the next minute or so.
The castle had seemed oddly deserted just moments ago, but as the hall spilled into another corridor, it was suddenly filled with voices. He caught the passing red head by the arm, pulling him into the hallway, “Tier, come this way!” And why was the red head from the tavern in the castle in the first place? A question better put off, he supposed, if vampires were on the young man's tail. Not actually giving the other an option, he pulled him down the hall with him, brushing his free hand behind them to tearing blocks of stone from the ceiling, to hinder anyone that might be chasing to close behind.
"No! I will not allow her soul to be damned! God forgives many, many things, but to force another's survival to depend on sin... You will not be forgiven and you will not stop me! You will not stop me from trying to save her!" Arzen shifted his stance while taking a deep breath. He focused on the shard that had stuck into her, beginning to make a pulling motion with his hand and focusing on keeping it frozen despite the slightly warmer surroundings of the castle. With a great pull of will, he attempted to pull the shard the rest of the way through her body, trying to stake her heart.
Banez might have dared Shield to finish that sentence, before the unholy bloodsucker hopped to another avenue of mid-battle conversation. "Of course, just because we have free will, we should disregard all virtues and rules we dislike," he spat sarcastically. "And in the end, I believe it's my decision with what to do with myself." Of course, he could only think of his predicament with Lysand. The knight suddenly charged, throwing his weight into the vampire's shield while his grip on his sword changed. Raising the sword, he attempted to stab downward into Shield's neck.
Snappy a fan closed, Purple Eyes twisted her arm back again, twisting it to hit the frozen spine before it could dig it's way deeper. The spine broke, leaving a much smaller shard still wedged in her back, but that ought to at least make it more difficult for the priest to keep frozen, or pull deeper into her body. Without waiting to find out of there was enough left for him to control, she lunged forward aiming to slap Father Arzen across the face with the closed fan, before making a follow up swipe the the still open secondary fan back across his chest, yelling back, “You're not trying to save her! You just try to sooth your own guilt by lying to us and to yourself, but you want her dead because you think she's a monster. If you really thought you were doing her a favor, you'd give her a choice!”
~~~~~
Using both arms to brace the shield, he pulled it up in time to block Banez's strike. “But you could.” Clearly the captain wouldn't be talked into doing anything, but it was certainly enjoyable to make him cringe. Would be MORE enjoyable if it didn't mean getting stabbed to death. He shifted his weight onto his bad leg once again, angling a kick down into the captain's knee cap, in an attempt to dislodge it.
~~~~~
“Control doesn't have to equal slaughter. You surrender yourself and the castle to me, and not only will you live, but we can both spare many casualties of war. Since your loss is already inevitable, it's a very generous offer.” He sighed gently when at the blonde guard's word, the prince turned to flee. No matter, it wasn't like the prince was capable of out running him. His gaze momentarilly flicked to the guard, before gesturing to the small cluster of vampires to stop standing around trying to look tough and important, and make use of their weapons. “Ashemir, help me catch Garnidell.” He instructed the other, while moving to run past the guard while he was overwhelmed by the overkill of vampires being sicked on him.
Running away? The prince was dumber than he sounded. Ashemir nodded to Seriah, running with him past the guard to catch up to the runaway redhead.
