The tigress landed mere inches from the female Vampire, her paws sliding a fraction on the blood-slicked floors. Her amber eyes saw the Vampire fumble, reach for her sword, and she intended to leap at her when a flash of silver in her peripheral drew her attention. Not a moment too soon, Aria shifted to her human form, horizontally crouched as the dagger whistled over her head. Drawing her own, she swiped at the feet of the nearest leech before rocking back on her heels and springing to the right, hopefully out of the immediate line of fire. Her other curved knife found its way into her hand and she flipped them over her hands in comforting habit; her palms were greased with a stranger's blood, her senses overwhelmed with the stench. A quick glance was spared to a Vampire lingering in the background, looking rather dazed. A stain of crimson glistened at his throat, but his blood was no longer coursing; his ugly, unusual eyes looked frightened.
Not a problem, Aria's mind said bracingly, though there was a doubtful tinge. Only two. The third will side with the strongest, and I have no fear of a cowardly newborn. She couldn't decide if she felt more disdainful pity or disgust toward the former Human, but her mixed feelings would have to be resolved later.
Twisting her left blade in her grip, she thrust toward the nearest Vampire with the point of her right.

Banez raised his shield and crashed it against the vampire's, slipping to the side and behind the vampire. Before he could make an offensive move toward the other, however, someone appeared around the corner.
"Captain! The city walls are being attacked!" a shaken guard called out.
Damn... Ambassador Talei was in the castle. If the vampires broke through, she'd be trapped with everyone else. "Find Ambassador Talei! Get her out of here and send her back to the werecats with a message on the situation!" Banez commanded without taking his eyes off of Shield.
The shaken guard nodded, backing away before he turned and hurried down the halls.

“A battle field-” With a graceful flick of her wrist, and sliding one foot forward into a more stable stance, both open fans met in front of her, letting the manipulated water strike metal, “is no place for a priest.” Baring any interruption, Purple-Eyes flicked the fans, casting off any remaining droplets of water, and jumping forward to close the distance between herself and Father Arzen. Her toes had hardly met the ground before she swept the fan across his neck, the ends of the metal plates making up the fan well sharp enough to slit a throat.
Locket's body went rigid as the water touched her lips, and quickly filled her mouth. In a second was was writhing in pain, chocking on the water as it tried to burn it's way down her throat. She flung herself off of her back, hanging her head as she vomited up both the nights dinner, and the water.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Duel hopped back, not quite fast enough to keep Aria's blade from nicking his shin, making for an awkward landing. He tightened his grip on the twin daggers, huffing rather indignantly at the sifted tiger.
By the time Aria had shifted, Pixie had her longsword free, and had regained her wits. Not skipping a beat, she lunged forward, bringing the sword down on Aria from an overhead struck. “Shouldn't you have more pressing matters to deal with than traipsing around the human castle?” And here she'd thought the stupid animals were preoccupied!
“Our castle.” Duel corrected, pointedly taking steps to get behind Aria, and leave her trapped between the two vampires.
The freshly turned guard pressed his back into the wall, making a point of not being involved.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
He pivoted to follow the captain's movement, hesitating slightly when one of the captain's lackies stumbled in. “Oh happy day! If Ambassador Talei is here, that's one less person to worry about later.” He was sure the ambassador was making fast friends with some of their intruders. His smile not leaving his face, a hand shot out in an attempt to grab a handful of Banez's admittedly fabulous hair, and yanked the other forward. If the gesture came close to successful, it'd be followed up by the other hand crashing the large shield against the captain's upper back.

"Any place where he can do God's work is a place for a priest," Father Arzen replied. He made motions with his hands as he spoke, and when she suddenly moved toward him, jerked them upwards. He was propelled upwards well over the vampire, by a stream of water landing behind her before e advanced forward, continuing to add distance. He approached the vomiting vampire instead. "Perhaps if I end you before you kill, your soul will still be accepted into heaven." He took control of his holy water again, grabbing the drops that had been scattered to try to slice her throat, keeping alert for the other vampire's moves. He knew that the other was more dangerous, but if he could save Locket's soul, then...

Aria was distracted and off balance; when she had made a swipe with one of her daggers, she had left herself exposed. The intended target recovered faster than she, and with surprising speed swung her swung down at the Werecat's head. Desperately, Aria threw up her other blade; there was the jarring clash of steel on steel, and the Vampire's weapon was deflected from the top of her skull.
"Aah-!"
Fire tore through her arm; the Vampire's blade, though parried with enough efficiency to break the of strongest the downward momentum, bit deep into her shoulder. The Werecat leaped back with a snarl, sensing the other assailant behind her in her peripheral.
Her arm hung uselessly at her side, pouring blood; a fleeting glance had told her that, mercifully, the blade had struck more bone than sinew. It was painful, but salvageable, and would certainly heal in time. For the moment, however, her reflexes with that arm would be devastatingly slow, and the Ambassador, with a grim, crystallizing thought, was beginning to believe she wouldn't be given that time for it to do so.
Holding the tip of her other blade out defiantly, she paced in a tight circle, attempting to keep an eye on the Vampire that was trying to sidle behind her as well as the one in front. So, said her mind quietly, a calm thought amid the panicked buzzing of a reeling mind, this is how ends the life of Aria Talei. Her copper eyes found the new Vampire, looking as if he'd rather be invisible. Her mouth twisted with a spiteful smirk.
"I hope you live forever," she said acidly, eyes suddenly alight with a malicious, cold fire. "I hope you live for centuries, brooding on the damnation you have earned and tormented by the faces of those you let die for you. I would go to death willingly rather than to spend an eternity haunted by the cowardice of your past. But be hopeful-" she chuckled once, an unnerving, humorless sound- "for the peace that is death may come sooner than you imagined. If there is one thing I admire of the race of Man, it is their resilience, adaptability, and tireless determination that makes them great. They will not rest until every last one of you is sent to hell, and I can assure that both Were Cats and Wolves will be at their sides."
Then she heard a sound, distantly- her name. Someone, at the far end of the hall, was calling her name. Go for help, she silently pleaded, hoping the soldier would have the sense to do as much, but not for herself- in her mind's eye, she pictured Chey, alone, amid the raging chaos, no doubt looking for her Ambassador whom she had trusted to stay by her side- Aria bit her lip. She should be protecting her leader, not dying for some lost cause.
For she couldn't kid herself. The Humans may rally again, but their castle was taken.

Banez yelled out in pain when his hair was yanked, stumbling forward. He noised again when the shield struck his armored back, which sent him onto the ground temporarily dazed. For a moment, the idea of giving up tempted him, but would there be any dignity losing to a lackey? That death was not befitting of a knight! He rolled onto his feet again, turning towards the vampire and holding his shield tightly to him.
The shaken guard rushed down the hall, skidding to a halt when he saw Aria fighting two vampires. "Ambassador, you need to go!" he said, pointing his spear toward the vampires. "Hurry back and warn the other wereanimals!" Without waiting for her response, he charged for Pixie to thrust the spear into her guts.

Locket had finished sputtering, and was simply rocking back and forth on the floor, hands covering her burned mouth. Her eyes flicked up when the battle's movement drew closer to her, and seeing Father Arzen's attention on her she scooted back into the wall, shaking her head desperately. “Nnn!!”
Purple Eye's pivoted sharply back around, taken aback by the priests water acrobatics. “The castle is forsaken. No work for you here, I'm afraid.” Her eyes widened a fraction as Arzen advanced on the fledgeling, before running at him. She slashed either fan in turn, trying to force him back. “How quickly you condemn your flock to death, priest.”
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Pixie felt first the ring of metal, and then the ever satisfying thwunk of the blade burying itself in flesh and then bone. As the werecat recoiled, she took the time to widen her stance, holding the blade in a single hand on guard. Listening to the werecat's curse against her, the female vampire scoffed, “Aren't you so high and mighty praising man. You might be allies now, but men are also fickle bastards, and last I heard, bestiality was a sin~” She giggled maliciously when the newly arrived guard (bade?) the ambassador retreat. “That's right, go rally the troops. As if it will do you any good now.”
Duel smirked as the two ladies traded words, taking a chance when the guard began to speak to lunge at Aria, intending to make a deep cut in the werecat's back. His hands faltered as he saw the guard charge into the mix as well, trying to make an opening for Aria to escape, no doubt.
Pixie pivoted awkwardly swinging the longsword down to block the spear. The gesture was made a moment to slow, and the spear pierced into her stomach, tearing a scream from her her.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Shield grinned at the fallen knight. He would have been considerably disappointed if the knight had simply laid down and died- after all, this was the great captain of the humans! He wanted this fight as drawn out and painful for the knight as possible. Banez would have been hardly on his feet again before the vampire bashed the shields together, pressing the knight back towards the wall.

"I do not condemn them to death," Arzen snarled, dancing back to avoid the blades. "I wish for them everlasting life in heaven. A far better fate than what you condemn your fellows to. Wandering the lonely earth in an everlasting purgatory! Your existence hinges upon sin... Repent in the name of the father-" He raised his hand in the air. "-and the son-" he brought his hand down in a slashing motion. "And the holy spirit!" He brought his hand up again and slashed it sideways, sending one large cross formed of water at Purple Eyes, that was about as tall as the other.

Aria's vision pulsed red at the edges, pain forcing her breath in quiet, shallow gasps. The boy told her to run- it was tempting. Yet her own words rang accusingly in her head, holding her there. She would not, could not, leave him to his certain death; she doubted she could outrun the leeches in her current state, anyway. So when he turned his sword upon the female Aria mirrored his actions, thrusting her good arm at her side as hard as she were able.
The Human's blow landed first, but with the Vampire's screech Aria felt something catch the loose fabric of her cloak. Pivoting away, not bothering to see if her own blow had landed, the Werecat turned to face the male, suddenly understanding; her movement to stab the female had moved her just a fraction out of the way of an attack from behind. Batting the sword away with her good hand, Aria cringed, and with a monumental effort whipped her bad arm viciously across her own body, releasing the blade so that it spun lethally toward the enemy. The Ambassador's vision pulsed black and an unintentional groan parted her lips; blood spouted from her wound with the effort.

Banez winced when both shields clashed together, and the knight was forced back against the wall. This was just humiliating! All this bloodsucker had was a shield, and he was owning this fight! Banez lifted his leg and kicked off the wall, using the force to shove the vampire back. The captain then dove down to a kneel, thrusting his arming sword into Shield's thigh.
Why wasn't the werecat running?? "Ambassador Talei, hurry and go, or you'll surely share my fate!" he shouted more desperately, tearing the spear out of Pixie's stomach. He turned back to the short-haired vampire, thrusting the spear up into her throat.

“I'll take purgatory over hell, father.” Purple Eyes shot back, watching as Arzen drew water into the air. When the cross of water was forced towards her, she spun away, slapping either fan into the water, disrupting it's shape, and deflecting the majority of it. The movement unfortunately still showered her arms and the side of her face in water, tearing a frustrated scream from her. Stomping her foot, she shot forward, ignoring the flesh searing away from her arms as she slashed at Arzen's torso, suddenly more aggressive than graceful or fluid.
Shaking weakly, locket crept away from the wall on all fours, likely unnoticed at the intense exchange between the vampiress and the priest. She felt wretched and in pain, but the one thing she knew was that the priest was no longer her friend. Not while she was like this. As Purple Eyes moved forward, Locket wrapped her thin arms around Arzen's leg, making it exceedingly difficult for the priest to try and dodge back.
~~~~~~~~~
Pixie's body trembled and twitched as the spear was drawn back out, until she could press her hands over the gaping wound. When both the spear was thrust back towards her, and the ambassador's blade, she simply chuckled herself over, flopping rather hard onto the ground, but safely beneath the range of spear or dagger.
Duel screamed as he watched the spear pulled from his companion's torso. He lunged forward, grabbing the shaft of the spear, and attempting to pull it free of the attached guard. With any luck he'd disarm the guard, and then use the spear to beat him and the weretiger into submission.
~~~~~~~~~
Shield stumbled back enough from the force of Banez's push, for the knight to get at the ground. He tried to draw his leg back, but wasn't quit fast enough to keep the blade from cutting deeply into the side of his thigh. “Fucking whore!” he growled, voice strained from the pain. Without skipping a beat, he lifted the shield, and angled it to smack it across the captain's face.

"Our Lord is a forgiving one. Repent your sins and he will have mercy upon your soul." But then she was coming after him, and Arzen had the thought that she wasn't about to repent anytime soon. He felt something grab his leg and he realized the danger, acting within a split second. He crossed and then slashed his arms, causing a large arc of water that also touched the floor to meet the weapon and then freeze, hopefully breaking the momentum of the attack and trapping the weapon in place.
"My child." His eyes did not drop to Locket, but it was clear by his voice that he was addressing her. "You need not fear death. The Lord knows what's in your soul. If it is goodness, he will accept you into heaven, no matter what form you are. Do you really want to live for an eternity of murder?"

Go.
Aria's vision pulsed, her breath loud in her ears.
The castle is taken; whether you die within it or you return to protect your people, this will not change.
In a haze she turned her sights to the Human guard- how could she leave him, after what she had said to the newborn leech?
Because, said that voice in her head, he is a soldier, you are an Ambassador. It is your job to protect your people; his to protect his own.
"I'm sorry," Aria choked and, leaving behind her thrown blade, slipped past the Vampires, clutching her bleeding shoulder and hobbling as fast as she was able. She met, surprisingly, little resistance, but instead of trying to force her way past the main door decided to take another route.
Even her weaker Human senses were overloaded with the scent of blood, foreign and her own; she was leaving a spotty trail as it continued to drip from her shoulder. Never before had she felt so vulnerable, helpless- her vision shuddered precariously as she thrust a standing candle holder through one of the glass windows, shattering it into a hundred translucent pieces.
The din outside was far worse than that within. Whereas the walls could buffer some of the internal noise, here there was nothing to break the sound of battle. Shifting to drop down from the low roof onto which the window had led, favoring her one side, Aria cast around desperately.
Chey! she mentally shouted, her voice projected to all in the vicinity.
(EXIT ARIAA!)

Even with the vampire cursing, Banez was finally able to gather his wits and focus on the battle. He raised his own shield to take the impact of the vampire's, and when the shields collided, the knight struck out with his sword again, aiming to deepen the injury and sever the vampire's muscles enough to cripple him.

“You would kill this girl for my sin, and ask me to repent. It is a wicked logic that damns the victim before the sinner.” She ripped the sharp flat metal slats that made up the fan free of the ice, pivoting her body to drive her elbow, and then shoulder through it. The ice would surely shatter like glass under her strength, she twisted back, arcing the right fan in another attempt to cut the priest's chest. Viciously, she added, “Don't lie to her, priest. As long as her heart doesn't beat, God cares not what good it contains. Her very existence damns her long before any undue murder would.”
Locket pressed her marred face against Arzen's legs, shaking miserably, and unable to respond. Even if she could have spoken, she was sure only a frustrated scream would have come out. She didn't want to live.. she didn't want to die. If only she could wake up from this nightmare, to the comfort of her mother and father. She wasn't a bad person, so why was this happening to her?
~~~~~~~~~~
(Aria lives to fight another day! <3)
~~~~~~~~~~~
Shield pulled back from Banez, limping already, and unwilling to sacrifice his leg farther. “I'm not going to kill you Banez. I'm going to turn you into a vampire. Then, while you're still too weak to make use of yourself, I'll hold you down and peel away your skin... start to strip your muscles off your bone- and you'll watch me do it, because you'll be a vampire, and you can't die. Not from that, anyway. I wonder how much of your lovely body I could dismantle before the shock is to much for a newely undead body.” Sneering, he jumped forward, putting his weight on his bad leg, to use the good one to kick directly onto Banez's sheild with the hope of using enough strength to injure his arm through the metal, or at least push the bastard captain back into the wall. He could feel blood dripping down his leg, and making the cloth of his pants stick to it uncomfortable, but the wound would heal quickly after a taste of the captain's sweet sweet blood.
