Ami nodded quickly and charged her opponent. She replaced the face of the woman that she would lay her life down for to a snarling vampire, that made her push harder. Amizade had flash of worry, she was not wearing her shin guards and therefore was not as well prepared as she should have been. The Were silently cursed her stupidity, she slashed a few inches from Aria, careful not to actually graze the ambassador but enough, hopefully to make her back up a few paces.

Aria did not back away when Ami charged; pivoting her left foot back, giving her a better base, she swiped upward with her right hand, steel meeting steel with a metallic clang. Using her upward motion to drive her sword upward, she stepped forward with her back foot, aiming a blow toward Amizade's right hip, meaning to turn her hand at the last moment so that her palm, not the blade, struck her.

Amizade winced at the hit, mostly due to shock not pain. She twisted her wrist around in hopes to knock the Ambassador's blade out of her hands. Ami tried her best to try and keep Aria away from the water, strategically keeping herself between Aria and the water, she knew how fast the latter was in the water and did not want to risk such a pursuit.

She was almost surprised when the blow landed; before she could properly draw her hand back though, Amizade did a nifty flick of her wrist and somehow jarred Aria's blade out of her hand, sending it sprawling a good two feet away. With her right hand Aria distractedly flashed her blade, sweeping it quickly back and forth in her opponent's direction, hoping to scare her into taking a step or two back. Her eyes darted to her fallen blade, but she dared not reach for it until she was given an opening.

Her dad's voice ran through her head "When they want you to fall back, push forward." That is what the warrior did, pushed harder, this was her time to prove that she could fight and that she had the skills for a captain. Ami's eyes shifted towards Aria's fallen blade, should I get it? Try it. Amizade dodged to the side in an attempt to get her opponent's blade.

In a swift, almost accidental motion, Aria's right foot shot forward, the side of her foot and heel sending a shower of dust and dirt into the air, a desperate attempt at a keeping Amizade from getting her fallen weapon, who had dipped to pick it up.

Amizade hissed as the dirt hit her eyes "Gah!" The warrior tried to blink the dust out of her eyes but they continued to tear and burn. Amizade crouched and spun so that her foot swept around and struck the opponent in the shin, hoping that the maneuver would trip her up.

It did. Thinking Amizade momentarily incapacitated, and feeling a tinge guilty about blinding her, Aria had lunged for her blade. She didn't see her opponent's foot swing about, and was caught of guard by the movement.
She hit the ground with her chin and forearm, earning a few scrapes along the underside of her arm and a throbbing in her leg. Cursing, she reached and retrieved her blade, now mere inches from her fingertips, and then rolled to the side, springing back to her feet, and turning again to her enemy. She didn't want to attack if she was blinded; were she a wolf or leech, yes, but it seemed wrong to fight so dirty with just a friendly spar.

Amizade slowly circled Aria "Well, come on, I can take an attack you know." She smiled wryly "Plus, I need the practice." She quickly lunged at Aria again, using a combo of fist striking at her right side than sweeping down to her left knee, making sure to just barely tap her with the flat of her blade before jumping back.

Aria smiled. "I know." She was impressed by the woman's show of skill thus far.
She was, however, ready for this blow. Two blades meant that she could protect both sides of her body; a light clink on her right side, a metallic scrape on her left as she just barely missed deflecting the blow, her left knee grazed by the blunt side of Amizade's weapon. The second the steel made contact with her flesh, however, Aria had pivoted so that her foot was chest level; careful not to strike hard, like she favored in battle, the Ambassador gave a good enough shove backwards to hopefully throw the combatant off balance. This she followed up with stepping forward with her right foot, turning her blades so that when they aimed for her shoulder and neck, they may touch, like Amizade had done, against their blunt side. If, of course, they made their mark.

Amizade bobbed an weave, she couldn't rely on her sight anymore though it was clearing up a bit. She heard Aria's blade swipe through the air towards her and she quickly ducked and rolled out of the way, trying to hit Aria's knees as she did so. Hoping that it could take Aria down to level.

"Ah!" Aria gasped in more surprise than in actual pain; Amizade's blades had nicked her, no more than a paper cut, just above her kneecaps, a strike that would be devastating in battle. Jumping back as well, the Ambassador paused, observing her adversary warily. She waited before she was upright before taking another strong, decisive step forward, one blade poised to block a blow to her body while the palm of her other hand caught her hard on the inside of her shoulder, hopefully forcing her off balance. Her other foot jutted forward behind the opposing heel, so that, if her plan worked, she would fall.

Ami stumbled forward and could see the ground, the water coming closer. She hit the water with a big splash. Amizade quickly came back to the surface, spluttering and went back on shore. Amazingly her blade still in hand "Not bad Aria." She circled, giving herself time to compose herself "You are surprisingly sturdy on your feet." She made a test lunge to check Aria's defenses and than jumped quickly back into her circling.

There was a sharp clang of steel as Aria's right blade flashed to parry the oncoming blow; as Amizade jumped back to resume her pacing, however, the Ambassador glimpsed a figure standing patiently behind her, looking both bewildered and even a bit disapproving of their practice.
"One second, Amizade," Aria said, straightening. She was breathing rather heavily and bearing a rare, wide grin; straightening, and brushing damp, tangled hair out of her eyes, she nodded at the newcomer. "Can we help you?"
"Yes," the young man said slowly. He was a thin, shifty-eyed fellow with untidy dark hair sprawling over his wrinkled brow. He wore tan trousers that hung off his slim form, his ribs visible along his chest. He had an overall unfriendly air about him, and the look he gave Aria seemed quietly condescending. "There is a family here who has just arrived from Cados with a very troubling story. As I cannot find Cheiftess Kitchi, and we are lacking a Captain," here his eyes slid critically to Amizade, "I thought I would find the Ambassador, to deal with this issue."
Glancing momentarily at her sparring opponent, Aria sheathed her blades at her sides. "What sort of issue?"
"I think you would want to hear their story for yourself, Ambassador Talei." His tone dripped with disapproval. Irritated, Aria gave a halfhearted flick of her wrist.
"Bring them to my my tent, tell them to make themselves at home. Amizade," she took a few steps forward, replacing her look of annoyance with one of guilt, "duty calls. We will have to decide who is the better warrior some other time- would you like to come with me, though? As was just made clear, you may some day have to deal with issues such as these."

Amizade did her best to hide her surprise by turning her face away and sheathing her katana "Of course Ambassador Aria." Ami inwardly scowled, back to formalities. Oh, well that is how things went. The Werecat glared at the messenger, she really wanted to tell him to leave but she thought that maybe that would be out of line now that they were not talking like friends. Amizade finished putting away her katana and putting on her Shin guards before she spoke again "Do you really think it is really as serious as that messenger say?"
