Like Werewolves, Werecats are said to descend from Ancient Egypt. Priests of the cat goddess Bast, jealous at the wealth and praised earned by the wolven protectors, earned a similar ability from their deity. Now able to shift into a feline form at will, the new Werecats too hunted the Vampires into near extinction, forcing them underground and into hiding. Though they may have worked alongside Werewolves, however, a rivalry blossomed into an acute hatred between the two races, and it wouldn't be long before many Were-wars broke out.
Werecats are solitary creatures, and are very rarely around each other for long periods of time. While they, too, are linked to other Werecats through a mental bond, the connection is far different- whereas Werewolves minds' are open for their kindred to feel, Werecats can select what information is shared with one another and may effectively close of their minds to one another. Seeing as they do not hunt in packs, Werecats depend on their stealth; they are hard to track by their faint scent. However, a larger Werecat (such as a lion, tiger, leopard, ect.) is more powerful than a single Werewolf on its own. However, even though Werecat scents are extremely faint, once a Werecat's scent is well known by a Werewolf Vampire, or other Werecat, it becomes as easy to track them as if they were a Human.
Like Werewolves, Werecats see well at night and have an acute sense of smell. To them, Vampires smell acidicly, sickingly sweet, and are easily tracked by their odor. Werewolves smell overpoweringly like a smokey campfire. Humans smell to them how Humans smell to each other, but to a heightened degree; they are, as well, very easily tracked.
Silver is known to be a powerful magical retardant, its potency measured in how pure the metal is. Many superstitious humans wear cheap silver chains or charms in attempts to ward off black magic; to Werecats, however, silver hinders their ability to shift. Pure silver will not only stop a Werecat into shifting into his or her feline form, but will return Werecats to their human state.
Werecats dress like other Humans do when in their cities, but when in Feryn, they dress in tribal clothing that Humans would certainly find indecent, meant to show off the natural beauty of the human form. Linking back to their Egyptian origin (or at least, rumored origin), Werecats love gold, and often adorn themselves in it.
When a Werecat changes, anything that has not been touched with his or her blood will not shift with them. Because of this, it has become practice for Werecats to rub a small, unnoticeable amount of their own blood onto whatever they intend to wear. This practice does not need to be repeated on garments that have been previously worn, even if they have been washed.
