"Sorry." If he could ensure Ashemir's safety and Valmar's loyalty without doubt, life would certainly be easier. But nothing was ever sure in this world, and he wasn't such a fool to expect different for all the convoluted plans in the world. He smiled as the topic fell back to politics, "Politics, the number one cause of premature aging. It's better left to we immortals anyway." There would be less gray hair in the world for every vampire elected mayor.

"It's not your fault." But that was enough thinking about Valmar. The most he could do was just try not to let the general upset him when he wasn't even there. Politics.... Ashemir let out a sigh merely for stress' sake. "I'm not completely sure yet, but I may try to join that council when the time comes for that," he said to Seriah. It was a step past consideration, at any rate.

Seriah's expression brightened, and he looked at Ashemir with some surprise. "I'm surprised. I mean, its a good kind of surprised!" The second part came out a bit more rushed than he'd intended, and Seriah carefully brought himself back to his usual calm. Maybe he'd just really needed a piece of good news after a long stormy journey back. And good! That'd give the blonde a reason to be hanging around the castle, so he couldn't hide himself away in the mountains forever. He wrapped his arms around Ashemir's shoulders, resting his chin on the other's shoulder, while adding a bit childishly, "You know if you do, I'm going to keep you busy just to make you stick around."

Ashemir's brows raised when Seriah hugged him, and in a confused daze, he patted the warlord's head. Then he realized that that definitely was NOT appropriate, and quickly dropped his hand with the clinking of chains. He had expected it to elevate the other vampire's mood, but he hadn't expected a whole hug out of it. "Hah... I'm sure you will," he responded drily. "The question is with what."

Decidedly not releasing Ashemir, at least not yet, Seriah angled his head so his cheek rested on the shoulder instead, and he could stare out into the square. "I can think of a plenty." He was quiet for a moment, before finally letting go, and asking, mostly because he needed to talk about something irrelevant to politics, "What have you been up to while I've been in the mountains, anyway?"

Plenty... he was sure. Ashemir glanced down at Seriah and debated whether or not to tell him to get off. But then Seriah asked what he had been doing. Oh Lord, if only the warlord knew. "What I've usually been doing. There was a man looking for information on vampires, but he went on his way without too much of a problem. Then there was a fight between two couples, and it was close to getting violent."

Seriah's brows rose, "Sounds eventful." He wondered what kind of fellow would have been passing through town asking about vampires, but he supposed Ashemir wouldn't have the answer to that. If someone was nosing around, though, it was probably good they weren't going to be sticking around much longer anyway. As far as what couples would be ready to brawl it out on the street, he hadn't the slightest idea. "Then no sign of Marrus, I take it?"

And Ashemir wasn't even going to begin to explain the couples' quarrels to Seriah. Chalk it up to a long story, not to mention his pre-existing relationships with all the people involved, some of which he didn't want to bring light on. "No. Not a trace," the blonde answered. "Good for us. And then we'll leave, and he'll be wasting his time snooping around here. Dumbass..."

"Maybe he'll snoop his way downstairs, and our pet wolf will eat him." Seriah suggested, grinning a bit wickedly. Should this occur, Seriah would give Yeszlin every spare book he had, and release her. It would be to perfect, not too. "Hm, maybe when this is all over, Yeszlin will be the ambassador to the werewolves and us, instead of humans." Once they made sure the wereanimals had no choice but to work with them, or be wiped out, they could always release her as a show of goodwill. Ish. Since they kidnapped her in the first place.

"Hah, maybe." Between Marrus and Yeszlin, he'd have to say he'd like Marrus dead first. Killing Yeszlin wouldn't be too difficult to pull off with her state in the basement, but Marrus had God knows how much vampire poison on him. Seriah's thoughts were straying dangerously back to politics, and Ashemir glancing off a bit distantly, "I wonder what the castle even looks like inside. Or what it's like to even live there." Too much space, his first thought strayed to.

"I spend so much time staring at 2 dimensional plans of the castle, I can't picture it any other way." Ah, it'd been a long time since he'd been to Cados too. He could barely remember what the outside of the castle even looked like. He smiled, "But it must be impressive. Imagine having proper meeting halls, and grand ball rooms. All the luxury they've been starving us of more and more in the year, earned back in a night."

The thought of being only able to see a castle in terms of layouts got a rather horrified-looking expression out of Ashemir. That was so visually-starved, that it was just sad. And, well, he could he could try to imagine the castle halls, but then Ashemir's mind drifted back to the smooth walls of the meeting cavern. Cados' castle might take some getting used to. "I suppose you'd entirely move into it, then?"

It would feel good being in the castle. Even as an intruder.. perhaps he was just being vengeful after loosing his and Lirit's home forever ago, but the upgrade would be nice. "Yes. But I feel homesick when I think of leaving Issilt. I want to at least return on occasion if I can find the time." But for an immortal, he was fairly certain taking over a country was going to be a full time job for a while. "What about you? The mountains will be fairly vacant..." Again, he had the thought that he'd make a point of keeping Ashemir busy, if only to keep him from completely retreating back to the mountains. But it seemed that Ashemir wasn't willing to let things happen without his input, so maybe he was worrying to much.

"How long have you been living here?" It must have been a fair amount of years. But if Ashemir had been living here for a while, he would think that he'd have trouble leaving it, too. It was lovely here. "They will..." he said when Seriah mentioned the mountains. "I don't know. I'll see what happens at Cados." There were still a few elements that had to be taken care of.

"A few years now." He would hate to see his take over change Issilt from the beautiful place it was. He somehow felt like he owed this place so much for keeping him. Dark caverns might suit Ashemir's taste, but Seriah was fairly certain the quiet isolation would have driven him crazy in no time. He looked towards the players in the square, then back towards the street his house was down. "I should get back and check on the rest of the household. Coming?"
