Brenthor nodded slowly to Lysand before he fixed his gaze on the speaker. "The mountains... Would be a terrible choice for a battlefield," he pointed out. "They're full of traps, from what I understand from the reports we've received. Not only that, but we'd be squeezed into tunnels, nullifying any number advantage that we have." He took another moment to consider. "Not to mention that being at the bottom of a hill, or any sort of mountain is a large disadvantage during a fight. They could very well start an avalanche and cause heavy damage to our troops. If only we could lure them to the fields of Riyer..."

"But we are not tacticians, merely politicians." He looked toward Brenthor. "Make preparations to leave at once, but before you go we will have another meeting. This time with the Prince, and Acting Captain. I want you all to think upon this matter. If you have any ideas for our country's defense, I pray that you do not hesitate to tell me. Now, I bid you to take your leave."

Brenthor nodded and rose. "I will contact you the moment that preparations are complete. We cannot hesitate here. The threat to our kingdom is far too great." And no kingdom would mean no political advancement for Brenthor. He couldn't have that. With a quick nod, he exited the chamber, headig for his room. He had much to do...

Lysand nodded and stood straight as the other advisors filed out. After a few moments, he turned, heading back to his chambers.
As soon at the door closed, he turned toward the mirror, studying his features. In the next instant, his expression crumbled, knees giving out again. His muscles trembled and suddenly all the emotions he had swallowed ripped their way out again, escaping him with a wretched cry. Tears once again poured down his face without his consent... However this time he wasn't so inclined to stop them.
