The peak of the mountain was a majestic place. The air was brisk and cool. The pine trees were lushish and green. The crickets were making their song and the geese were making their yearly route south. And in perfect view, you could see the village of Tiaelde and the entire landscape of Thrunalhin.
Valmar stood there, watching the scentic view. He reached his hand over the land, like a cloud covering the ants below. This kingdom shall be his one day, and he shall sit his thrown here, overlooking the world like the gods of Olympus.

Draven stood watching Valmar in the shadows of the trees. He didn't say anything while he stood there, silence broken only by the sound of the crickets and the wind in the trees. At last he stepped forward, his feet silent against the ground as he moved. So much for leaving right after that damned meeting. Now he'd gotten himself into something he might not want to go through with. With a sigh, he halted, arms crossed over his chest, the soft clink of metal beneath his cloak. "You asked me to meet you here," he said, more of a comment than a question. "We couldn't have just talked in the cavern?"

Ashemir had followed both vampires up to the peak, leaving a sizable distance between them so that the lantern light wouldn't give him away. The lantern was left at the tunnel's entrance where it opened up to the wilderness on the peak, and pooled around it was his scarf, sash, and chains, not to mention the cloth that the sash held in place. Without the extra material wrapped around his person, Ashemir felt as though he was baring a significant amount of flesh more than usual (although it was just his neck), but Valmar and Draven would hear the chains as clear as day, and he couldn't risk that.
The blonde silently drifted through the trees, following the sickly sweet scent of the other vampires until he heard speech faintly. He stopped completely for a moment to catch what Draven was saying. Taking even greater care to move with the sound of the crickets or generally make no noise at all, Ashemir stepped lightly towards where the brush grew thicker, ever closer to the two conversing men.

Valmar turned around to face Draven. The mercenary wondered why he dragged him up to the peak. Besides the beautiful view, he wanted to privately conduct business with him. "Well, it was getting quite cramped in those caves, so I thought would be nice if we both got some fresh air." He then turned back to view the scenitic scene. "I must say, you should admire the view. One day this shall be ours. A new age is upon us I tell you." He took a sigh, then returned to reality. He was really stalling this meeting and he needed to get to his point before he get bored.
He made an about face and directed his attention back to Draven, "But enough about that, you're here because you want a job and I got one for you. You may haven't heard, but I'm creating a special group soldiers: warriors who fight in a different style of warfare. They aren't like the legionaires who fight in mass formation. These are individuals who use the cover of stealth and think beyond the box to create as much damage upon the enemy as an entire army. The best of the best. Not only do I feel you are qualifed for the job, but I think you should be in a position to lead."

Draven looked out over the view briefly, but it didn't really interest him. The entire world just needed to leave him the fuck alone. That's what he wanted. He watched Valmar quietly, listening to the proposition with little interest until he described the type of work he would be doing. That caught his attention. He nodded his head slowly and even smiled at the mention of a lead position. Now Valmar had Draven's full attention. He wasn't just qualified for a job like that, he was made for a job like that. He looked around them at the scene of the mountain's peak, listening intently, but unable to catch any sounds, he returned his eyes to the general. "I like the position," he said, raising a brow as his smile grew. "But what exactly is in it for me, joining your army? I have no want to rule the world so you need to have something that appeals to me. Information, money, etcetera."

Well, it started out as to be expected, but it wasn't exactly the expected: this is our kingdom, new age, leading position of a guerrilla-style force, yadda yadda yadda.... However, the expected was not what Ashemir was waiting on. He rested his head on the rough bark of a pine tree, interest kept just by the fact that he was listening in on a private conversation. Draven, ever the negotiator, was barking for more, and the blonde had to commend that quality in this situation.

Valmar was glad to see that Draven was interested in this job. And just like any mercenary, he wanted profit. However, one of his demands sort caught the general's eye: information. What kind of data was he searching for? True, many of these rogues have their own past history of betrayals and loose ends, but what sort of information would he expect from a general.
"I'm not sure what information I can give you, but I do have plenty money," assured the general, "My starting payment is 5,000 gallons with benefits; 10,000 upon completing a mission plus whatever loot you come across will be yours. And depending upon your progress, I might raise your pay. Now, I do expect some sort of loyalty from you, so you do have to be part of my army. However, I'm not going to have you parade around in uniform. No, I clearly see you're the type of warrior who perfers to do things his way, which is why I want to have this position."
The general then made a quick pause. Something didn't feel right; it was as if his meeting private meeting is being compromised, being watched by a foriegn observer. Maybe I'm being a little too paranoid.

Draven had the feeling of being watched again. He turned and scanned the surrounding area, bronze eyes searching for something. His nose twitched and he stared around. But he spotted nothing and returned his eyes to Valmar, his ears perked for any outside sound from something nearby. He didn't think there would be much wildlife on the peak of a mountain, no matter how lush and alive it was. Especially not if vampires claimed the innards of the mountain as their hide-away. He had been considering the offer Valmar presented and slowly, he nodded his agreement. The terms seemed fair. And if he was going to be allowed to keep his own garb and style, he wasn't going to argue that. And the pay was much higher than he expected which made the deal all the better. But information was what he sought... He supposed he couldn't deny what he was being given. He could still work on the side while searching for his objectives for the general and he would have an abundance of money set aside for whatever he needed, and gather information on his own. His interest was clear in his eyes as another smile grew on his face. "I will accept, then," he said, nodding again. "Another matter, though... Do you feel we are being watched? It's bothering me..." He glanced back over his shoulder again, blinking his bright eyes as he took another scan.

There was a small pause, and Ashemir felt as if the air had condensed around him briefly. But then it was back to business, money for loyalty and running success. Of course Draven would accept coin, he thought with a twist of his lips. Then he heard Draven's voice ask after being watched, and the blonde's eyes narrowed. Just rabbits and birds watching, you dolt! Think about the uninspired shine of coins instead!

Valmar was glad hear he wasn't the only one being watched. He glanced around the woods to see if anyone was hiding, yet he couldn't see anything out of the oridnary. He then turned to his hearing, yet all he could hear was the tune of nature. He then turned to his smelling, and here he caught a scent. It was a small scent, but it was recognizible to the general. Cinnamon. He wasn't sure if there were any bakers hiking around or a cinnamon field near by, but he knew who wear such spice. Valmar grimmanced.
"Ashemir, I can smell you. How about you come out before I force you out?" he voiced out.

Draven sniffed and caught that faint wiff of cinnamon as well. He hadn't thought about that before. He vaguely remembered it from before. Ashemir. The eavesdropping bastard. What the hell did he want? He watched the scenery carefully, attempting to catch where the other vampire was hiding. He should have been the one to find him; that just made him look bad in front of the general. Though, he supposed, he had to be given credit for sensing they were being watched. He shrugged to himself and waited, quietly watching, quietly listening.

Ashemir had never worn cinnamon around Valmar or Draven. The day he traveled to Issilt, he was wearing the smell of damp wilderness. But if there was the stray scent of a perfume, there would be little doubt that Ashemir was the one wearing it, with the odd reputation that he had seemed to build up in such a short amount of time. Not to mention that his own natural scent as a vampire would come through.
The blonde reviewed his choices: Step out and be apologetic and humble, just be silent and hope that they wouldn't investigate, or run.
Well, all choices were shameful in his opinion, but anyone that knew Ashemir knew what choice he'd make. He stepped quietly away from the tree, looking in their direction to make sure that he wasn't in their line of sight. After several slow steps away from the tree, Ashemir spun on his heel and took off running back to where he came from.

He was hoping that Ashemir would stand up and admit he was hiding. However, he did what the general expected him of doing, and that is to not show up. It was rude of him to easedrop on their conversation but it was cowardly for him to run off and hide. "Why does he have to make things difficult?" he muttered under his breath.
The general turned towards Draven. Figuring he could put his new comrade in good use, Valmar figured his first task should be to retrieve Ashemir. "Draven, I'll give you 50 coins if can bring Ashemir to me, for I do want to give him a lesson."

What a waste of his talents. He rolled his eyes and shrugged, then looked in the direction he suspected Ashemir was running. Even for being weighed down by what he carried, he was fast and in the blink of an eye, he was right behind Ashemir. He didn't try to hide himself, metal clanging together, cloak billowing back. He reached out as he ran, trying to grab anything he could of the other vampire. His fingers brushed hair and shirt and he attempted to snatch a handful of anything. He tugged back, handful of whatever part of Ashemir he could get, and skidded to a halt.
((Let me know if that's too much... >.> Trying not to powerplay.))
