Eleven.
Eleven.
Eleven werecats.
Cheveyo sighed, staring up at the almost ethereal sight that was Bast's Waterfall.
Only eleven...
The young chieftess felt horrible. Eleven werecats was hardly a small band of warriors, let alone a proper army. She doubted Aria had had much luck, either...even though she trusted the woman and her abilities, Chey had taken on the largest city in Thrunalhin. If she only found eleven there...odds were Aria had done worse.
With a tired sigh, Chey set her small satchel on the ground and sat down in front of the pool.
She felt too ashamed to enter her own land.
"I've failed Captain Gladpath." She mumbled to herself, leaning back and holding herself up with her arms, which were positioned behind her. "Eleven werecats...God, Harrier...he'll laugh in my face." She scoffed, eyes on raging waterfall before her. "He's probably got five times that, with all the little pups he has at his disposal..."
Irritated.
She was irritated.
...and embaressed...
But she would never admit that.

That scent. That scent! He recognized that scent!
Paws pounded against the earth under him and he glanced back to the werewolves accompanying him for just an instant. I smell their leader. Rage boiled in his blood and he raised his maw, letting out a bloodthirsty howl that split the air. Not exactly the sneakiest way to move about the homeland of your mortal enemy, but they weren't there to be sneaky. They were there to get some answers.
There. There she was. Her scent grew stronger! He shot forward, out pacing the rest of the group that was with him, fueled by his anger. He bounded forward as she came into view, giving a mighty leap toward her, while changing his form midair. In an instant he had pinned her to the stone behind her, glaring directly into her eyes, a savage, wolf-like snarl still on his features. "Where is she?" he demanded, glaring directly into her eyes.

Baba also smelt the werecat chief's scent. The way Harrier reacted was not a sign indeed as he howled out their position and started running to the waterfall. The elder knew it was a bad idea to have him in charge of the negotiations. So, he made his chase after the Alpha to insure he didn't get too violent.
When he caught up, the advisor knew he thought to soon as he saw his leader pinning the werecat chief against the wall. Angered by his behavior, Baba shifted to his human form, grabbed a hold of his leader, and threw him on the ground. "This is not how you treat another leader!" snared the elder. "Now, control yourself." He didn't want to deal with Harrier's arrogance. Their ambassador's life hangs on the balance and assaulting werecat's chief is not way you handle business.

Kahjit followed Harrier and Baba, straining his muscles to run faster when his alpha let off a howl and took off like a blood hound on the scent. He'd gathered a small number of pack members the day before, all soldiers keen on bringing their ambassador back.
He arrived just short of Harrier and Baba, in time to see the advisor fling their alpha to the ground. He was on his feet in a moment, darker toned fur retreating for green cloth and pale skin as he grabbed Baba's black collar, ripping the elderly man back. Of all the stupid things! The advisor had to pick the presence of the werecat chief to undermine Harrier's authority! He just shook his head, letting go as he waited for Chey and Harrier to react.

(Aria will come in in a bit. Most likely in the same post as the Twins'.)
Are you sure you're okay? Indigo muttered; the other members of his pack could hear him, of course, but by restraining his tone to a near whisper, he was hoping he would only be understood by his brother, who was closest. The journey had fatigued Tuari who, at this point, was fighting to conceal a decent limp. When he answered, his voice was hollow.
I'm fine.
Much further and you won't be able to keep up, Tuari shot him a murderous look at this notion, how did you get cleared to come?
The injured twin shot his brother a look that would have been a smirk; just at that moment, however, Harrier gave a howl ahead of them and took off into the trees. Picking up the pace, the boys followed Baba, Kahjit, and the other warriors into the clearing. Here we go.
They emerged in time to see Baba throw their Alpha to the ground. Woah, Blacksheep, Tuari muttered. Glancing back between Kahjit, who looked furious, to their fallen leader, the pair paused, Tuari lifting one paw slightly to relieve the aching of his shoulder.

That howl...
Chey perked up, muscles tensing.
She looked behind her just in time for a large figure to snatch her up, to which she screamed, and slam her into the rock face.
Once that unforgettable face was inches from hers, she gasped and struggled against him. At his question, she continued to thrash while replying with a “What the HELL are you talking about?!”
It was then that another man approached and pulled Harrier off of her. She stumbled forward a bit, subconsciously rubbing her wrists. “What are you-“ She was cut off by yet another man making an appearance. He took the second man and yanked him backwards, which confused Chey slightly. Why attack your own man...?
She inhaled slightly. The area was practically drenched in the scent of smoke and charcoal...the entire group was made of werewolves.
And if things couldn’t get worse for her, two more werewolves bounded up.
“What is your business here in Feryn?” She asked sharply, question directed at the Alpha at her feet as she continued to massage her wrists. “And why did you attack me?!”

Harrier had barely touched the ground when his reflexes reacted, bringing himself back up in a roll. His hand shot out, grabbing the advisor's shoulder and throwing him to the ground with a rage filled movement. "Baba! If I may remind you, I am the alpha here! Cross me again, and I'll have to remind you why." His voice was a throaty snarl at the moment, and his head snapped to the arriving werewolves before his eyes fixed upon the werecat leader.
"Yeszlin," Harrier growled. "We know your werecats took her. Your people's stench was everywhere, mixed with her blood! I will not stand for this!"

Baba fell on the ground. Despite the Alpha's threating warning, the elder simply got back up, dusted himself off, and calmed down. He was still angry, but kept masked and under control. In return to Harrier's threat, the elder calmly whispered, "And let me remind you that I taught you everything there is to be an Alpha. Without me, you would of never gotten the position." With that he turned his back and strode away to get some distance away from him. Admittively, what Baba did to Harrier was wrong. However, Harrier was doing to Chey was also wrong, disrespectful ,and embrassing, especially to the man who taught him to behave better.

Kahjit's brows knit together as he watched Baba turn and walk back. If only the old man could save the lessons for when showing unity- regardless of their alpha's actions- wasn't so important! With any luck Cheveyo was to shaken for Baba's actions to have damaged their position much.
He stepped back, giving both leaders a fair amount of space, and standing closer to the rest of the wolves. His posture relaxed now that Baba had backed off, not maintaining the level of aggression for the werecat.

She'd been running since Yina, anger fueling her to the point that she didn't feel herself becoming tired. The necklace she had taken bounced violently against her neck as she ran, having not wanted to add her own blood to the piece. And even though Aria had pushed her body as fast as it would go, she still felt she was moving too slowly. She barreled through the waterfall entryway, soaking the right side of her body carelessly.
Shifting to her human form while still attempting to run, the Ambassdor stumbled forward, breaking in on a scene she should have sensed much earlier, had she been alert. "Che-"
Aria froze, looking between the small army of wolves collected around her leader. In the background, mothers were pulling their children into tents. "What's going on," she asked, looking at their leader, Harrier, with murder in her eyes. "What the hell are they doing here?"
She ripped the amulet from her neck, stalking forward. Every vein in her body pulsed with rage; she urged to engage them, release some of her pain. At Chey's side she held the bloody necklace up to Harrier's face.
"What is this?" she demanded, uncomfortably close to the man. The fist in which she held the amulet was shaking. "They were innocent, you bastard. Helpless." She barely knew what she was saying, or even what she was trying to convey- she put a hand on his chest and shoved him a step back, faintly trembling as she resisted the urge to strike him. In the background two wolves growled threateningly.
"Chey, Yina has been tainted," she had taken a protective step before her leader, her eyes never straying from Harrier's face, "I counted over thirty of our kind killed. Four wolves dead. The area has been burned but I still smelled their scent over the bodies."
Again she lifted the amulet, which revolved slowly on its chain, half of it glimmering in the light while the other was still stained in dark crimson. "And now they have the nerve to set foot anywhere near our home uninvited. I see no coincidence in their visit. Come to finish us off, have you?"

“Yeszlin? You mean Yeszlin Ravella...your Ambassador? I didn’t touch the woman! My people would neve-“
That’s when Aria walked up.
Throughout her Ambassador’s speech, Cheveyo struggled to hold back her emotions. First came mild confusion at the sight of the amulet and Aria’s rather vague accusations, then a bit of shock at the shove.
Then that shock increased tenfold.
Yina...tainted? Her head was spinning. Harrier...he...he killed my people...in Yina...
The number 30 broke through.
Thirty...
Her fists clenched.
She said nothing for the longest time as she tried to process what Aria had just said. Yina...the sacred place...had been used as the scene for a battle?
-Come on, Chevo!-
Chey cringed. Elias... Memories flashed before her eyes...the young arctic fox and herself, tumbling into the crystal-clear pools...
“How could you?” Her voice was quiet and her eyes downcast. “You...you dared to touch Yina...the one place we have for peace...the one place we have without sin?”
Her head snapped up, eyes blazing as they met Harrier’s. “You would stoop as low to do something like this?!” Her tone had suddenly become sharp and full of rage. “Just because you think we took your little mut Yeszlin? Even if one of my people did take her – which I doubt – covering Yina in blood and ruining the one place of solace we have...that’s horrid! You vile, vile creature!” She was shaking with anger at this point, unable to fully contain her sadness and hatred. The one truly blissful memory she had with Elias...
Shattered.

Anything that Harrier would have snapped at Baba in reply was gone when Aria stalked into the clearing. When she shoved something into his face and then in turn shoved him, he let out a sound that could only be described as a snarl. His gaze burned as he glared at the ambassador, but suddenly the fire died out as he was suddenly replaced with a cold rage. His muscles were so tense with rage that he was afraid that they might snap. "Yina... YINA!"
There were no words that could contain his anger then, and his hand nearly drifted to his claymore, but mindful of Baba's advice for once, he simply clenched his fist instead. four packmates dead in Yina... "If their scent is on the bodies at Yina, it must be because YOUR people attacked them! The werewolves would never...!"
Then Cheveyo began talking pounding in the anger more. With each passing word, his anger began mounting more and more- which considering his original level of rage, you wouldn't think it was possible. When the werecat called Yeszlin a mutt, it finally caused him to snap, his voice booming. "I will not allow you to stand here making false accusations and insulting my pack, you werecat bitch!"

The elder fell to his knees when heard of the destruction of Yina. He couldn't believe what he heard. It felt like a bad dream for the advisor. The lost of innocent life was sad, but this was also holy ground, there was suppose to be peace. But now it was tainted in the blood of the slained. In his head, he prayed for their lost souls, both werewolf and werecat.
But his sarrow for the ambassador and werecat chief soon evaporated when they were to blame of that deplorible act. Even the most secular of werewolves knew not to attack in holy land. It was an outrage to believe that it was their race that slaughter those werecats, even if it was out for revenge of the capture of Yeszlin. Despite disagreeing with Harrier choice of words, he did agree with the message. Then again, what if both sides were wrong? He wanted to voice his opinion, but he knew would be shot down.

The attack in Yina couldn't have been in retribution for Yeszlin's kidnapping! They'd only found out yesterday, and surely anyone that wanted werecat blood would be more interested in following their current party to retrieve Yeszlin, and if they must, fight any werecat standing in their way. No, the werecat's must have started it.. they were always more considered with their individual comfort than what was best for all, it wasn't hard to imagine they'd disregard even a sacred place to both races.
Kehjit's mismatched eyes watched the advisor and chief carefully, taking more pleasure than he'd like to admit at the current idea to tear into the nearest one's throat. He'd never been much for words, but now they really did fail him. What could one even say to that? Yina had been desecrated.
